wonderful things can happen when jiggling your connector.

I think the guy sounds great and more than that the song just sounds great. Its just good rock and roll and hopefully the new stuff is too.

I was listening to the track this afternoon with a pair of headphones that have a faulty connection. Anyway, while I was jiggling the connector it must have cut out one channel because I heard the lead singer singing the harmony track (or whatever you want to call it).

I tried to reproduce it using Audacity but didn't have any luck. Pretty cool to hear though.

Well...not sure what you heard, but I definitely wouldn't call it a harmony track. Everyone's making a big point about how it was a live recording with no overdubbing. I think any extra vocals would have been sung live by Chad T. Yea, your faulty connection likely only removes either the R or L, and the new singer's only vocal input sounds like its coming out of both equally.

Yes, thanks for this thread - I appreciate the constructive conversation.

I agree that I'd like the new singer to tone down the "Ed-mulation" - I heard it in a few places, like how he says "water", and the yelling at the end of the song. BUT - I loved the intensity, and did get an instance of the chills at a couple of points.

For folks like us, we'd be tremendously into rare songs. Plus, since we've heard them so little, it'll be easier to accept them with the new singer. Heck, that could be true for the larger public as well, perhaps not just limited to hardcore Live fans.

I would be less inclined to see the new Live if their concerts consisted basically of Awake, but MUCH more excited if they were playing unreleased or rarely-played songs.

I will see the new Live at least once (ok, realistically, at least a dozen times) no matter what, but I will enjoy myself much more if the old Live songs included are the ones that were rarely played. I think you're right, sellingthdrama, that it will probably be easier for the public at large to buy into new Live if there's minimal opportunity to directly compare the new guy to Ed - good or bad. I'm really excited about new stuff. and old songs we rarely heard. I've only ever heard Gas Hed (one of my favorites, ever) once (at their last show in NY) and I would not at all be upset to hear someone new sing it, knowing the energy CCP will bring. (especially since, in that show, Ed sang "when they lanced MY skull" instead of HIS skull, which I didn't notice at the time, but now leaves a bad taste in my mouth.)
anyway, I'm excited. I'm ready to start planning vacation days from work.
it's time for tour dates.
or at least a website smile.gif
but I digress.
As far as this track goes, I like it more and more every time I listen.

That's what I thought too, if Live are playing the majority of their set as lesser played old songs and brand new ones it'll be a very new experience for everyone. I know personally I've never heard TBD or Merica live so I don't have a strong concert memory to compare it to. It'd be a fresh thing in its own right. I think if Live truly go in with the attitude that it's a rebirth, starting from scratch and that they're basically a new band that has to win over a new audience then they should be fine. When Live started in the early 90s There was a point where no one knew their songs. There might be a large bulk of the audience wanting to hear the hits but they need to think what it was like before they had any hits. It's gotta be the same as that, go in to win people over with new and lesser known songs and not expect the big stadium reactions. I don't think those matter anymore, this is about the music.

So 100% agree with dancingqueen, as per usual tongue.gif

normal? dude? really ? the shock......

As a huge fan of our boys, the first time I met Pat was at the TGF show in Toronto (horrible club horrible employers and employees) while standing behind him (and Sean next to him) at a fucking urinal.
I asked myself "do they really urinate??? after much thought... i wondered..they must? must they not? many split seconds went by and I figured, YES! they must be HUMAN. THEY MUST BE normal dudes!!! LET THY PEE!!!!
Not the best place to meet one of your heroes but hey! it makes for a funny story. Now did I shake their hands before they washed? was I already half unzipped waiting inline? (you beer guzzlers at shows know what i mean) I don't really remember.

Joking aside it was an amazing night for me to meet all 3 after half a life time only knowing them through music.

Signing off, the marshmallow t-shirt man (chad T you ruined my t shirt by signing it with permanent marker, it was loud and I wanted you to comment on it not sign it. needless to say thanks!! haven't worn the shirt since, but it is now a part of my TGF/LIVE collectible! and Graceys sticks! and all of tgf sigs on the album

Poke,y I agree with you on many posts about the Shinn thing.
What I do have a problem with is you saying his voice isn't unique/distinctive.To you it may not be but to me it is.
Don't get me wrong, 10 years ago I thought Unified Theory was Thorn doing a project away from BM but got a singer sounding like Hoon (the raspy voice thing) but the more I listened to UF the more I could differentiate between the 2 and realized how these 2 bands were different.

Is it Shinn, is it not? Does he do justice to the Live song I don't care . But to me this man has a unique voice!

But in the end... it is what it is. Art is the most subjective fluid thing that humans created. (though some fluid might be flowing through a sewage pipe cough awake cough)
