Actually it's more like just taking the rotten tomato off of the BLT and enjoying the rest of the sandwich with a new addition....

It might not matter as much to those that enjoyed the sandwich, not just the bacon. That's not discounting the bacon, because it's probably the centerpiece to the sandwich. But when mixed with the other ingredients you might be able to switch out the bacon and still have an enjoyable sandwich. It would still be a BLT to those that enjoy it. As a matter of fact, in all my hippieness, I've gone to soy bacon and it's quite good. Haven't made a BLT yet, but I think I will now.
