There are other reasons why CCP could want to use Live instead of financial reasons. They might have a sentimental or artistic connection to the name. They could potentially give away albums and concert tickets, but use Live for its name recognition. It seems relevant that the band keeps saying that the music they're playing sounds like "Live" music.

Or, maybe they do care about financial success. They can justify using the name Live by saying that financial success from 2000-2009 was not on their own terms. They hated the band's direction, and now want financial success with the right music behind it.




Many fanatics, but not everyone on this board buys everything CCP is selling.

or, lets say Ed's lyrics come from Ed. If someone else sings it on stage, the emotional attachment is kinda like.....hearsay. The truth of the matter being asserted is less reliable from someone once removed. Its like a fake or an impostor. a knockoff. art is sentimental, and there is sentimentality knowing that something is original, the real thing. I hope the new band sticks to the new original material.

He also says it's OK here but long-term won't work? Sounds like he's confused, or sitting on the fence instead of taking a clear stance on whether he likes the clip or not.

Anyone that actually put emotion into the songs, and doesn't act like a freaking jackass on stage is an upgrade over the Ed that we saw for about the last 10 years. I'll be very happy if we get at least those upgrades.

This is exactly the problem with American politics. Presidential election next year everyone!

Yeah, I'm excited that we might be seeing someone who's humble - the music sounds better that way. Think early Ed. Yeah, he was never really "humble" but his ego was out of control the last several years of stage performances.

You forgot, I'm a hippie, so I might not care so much who gave the bj. Regarding Live, I don't know for other fans but for this one I had to leave that sentimentality in the 90's or I wouldn't have even been able to stomach anything Live related since. Considering that, embracing a new singer won't be that tough for me. Especially if the band as a whole can find an energy similar to what they had in the 90's. Enjoying art to me is about suspending one's belief about anything. So I'm willing to give it a chance.

Well then, with those needs more easily met, you might get your fix when it all goes down. With those standards, you just need a guy who can sing well, and hopefully there will be some good new material also.

It seems to me that many people here are on one side or the other (has to be "I love Ed" or "I love CCP") and they can't enjoy anything in between. In fact, they personally feel the need to tear each other down.

Basically out of the situation we got 4 things:

1. Ed performing as Live with a backup band
2. CCP performing as Live with a new singer (possibly) and new songs (possibly)
3. A CCP side project that sounded totally different from Live
4. An Ed album that continues the route of SFBM

The truth is that Ed and CCP have split. It's over, but you don't have to choose a side.

In reality the music of Live has branched out and broadened. The original form is a thing of the past but it is there for you to recollect. Today there is simply just more to enjoy.

In theory, you could actually go to 2 Live concerts in one summer and see two totally different shows and performances of the music with original Live members on stage!

Personally, I'd say listen to what appeals to you and enjoy all 4 if you can. It's all art that's made to be enjoyed and appreciated, but for fuck sakes quit going out of your way to tear down what you don't care for or what you've personally decided that you will not like no matter what.

I think instead of listening to the art people are becoming intrenched in personal bias and theory. Just take what your ears enjoy, leave the rest, and move on like they have.
