Go read up on the history of rap/hip hop ok? That's how it started. Djs spinning records and people rhyming to the beat. Not freaking bands playing and rappers rhyming to a bass or guitar solo. The first major hip hop artist given credit for performing with a live backing band was LL Cool J on MTV Unplugged. I forgot what year. You can look it up if you still need convincing. Either way, I'm done.

And once again, that song by Tupac is just a pile of shit and those 2 sumbitches were going back and forth with each other and hey, they reaped what they sowed. I left that music when it got too stupid. The early 90s was cool but then it got wayy too violent for me. But hey, it led me deeper into the arms of rock

I've seen live performances of tupac rapping with a band playing. I've seen it. Others have done it as well. Just listen to his music. It's clearly meant to be played with a band. The basslines are so predominant. It's not just some guy laying down a beat with turntables.




Fuck bad boy as a staff, record label, and as a motherfucking crew. And if you wanna be down with bad boy, then fuck you too.

Apparently he got fucked too. You can celebrate and love that violence all you want babe, but not I. I live in the Bronx, I see/hear that shit everyday.

I know all too well what it's like to be surrounded by violence and crime. I never said I celebrate the violence itself: the song was not violence. It was an expression of hate. Art can express all kinds of other emotions, why not hate? It also drew a thick line between east and west. And I love rivalries.

Even when they end in death? We have too much damn hate in hip hop but hey, love does not seem to sell records cause most people ( sad really ) like you prefer murderous rivalries.

When did I say anything about liking murderous rivalries? I like rivalries. I'm from norcal, I love hating socal. I genuinely find geographic rivalries to be quite interesting. I'm not at all happy that violence actually occured, but I'm not going to blame that song for it. And even if it was to some extent caused by that song, I wouldn't blame 2pac for having written it.

And I have in no way even implied that I prefer "hateful" rap to more calm and peaceful rap.

The bottom line is sweetie, that Tupac and all all those others who keep talking shit and embarrassing me and my race by making us look stupid by all there rivalries and shit. I don't give a fuck about them, i will not listen to them ( unless i'm at a club dancing ) and they will not get my money for their garbage filled CD. Busta's body guard, emiemem's ( or however the hell his name is spelt ) D12 buddy, Tupac, biggie, Ti's buddy, etc. and the friggin list goes on. Who else is gonna die or get shot in the name of hip hop "rivalry"

Do you like Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli (not spelt correctly ) ? Kanye got some positive lyrics even though is ass is just too damn cocky.

My point, though, is that the rivalries themselves are not too blame. The media blowing them out of porportion, a few individuals taking them seriously...those are problems. I don't mind rivalries, and I don't mind some shit talking. It's part of the culture that formed these people, and part of the life they're attempting to express. I don't see that as a problem. Instead, I see the few people that commit these horrible murders as the problem.




I haven't heard enough of common's work to judge him, but mos def is awesome. And...I fucking hate kanye west.

The sad thing is that is use to be like that. KRS, Kool Mo D, Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh and them other old skool cats. You never heard about them shooting each other. It's gone way beyond just innocent shit talking. It can get your ass laid out from being sprayed out by 9mm rounds or whatever the fuck they're packing these days.
Kanye's a dick but his lyrics and his flow is tight.

At least American hip-hop and rap actually means something, I'm not a huge fan of the style of music I must admit (although I do like some artists, Grandmaster Flash for example) but it's the Aussie hip-hop I struggle with more, some of them are actually ok like Two Up but it's always just an excuse to write shit about John Howard.
