Any band never achieves that many sales after a blockbuster breakout record with that many #1 singles.Deal with it. Sahmadi was great in my eyes....it was the true sound of the band, and C&C&P will state that too.

Listen SFBM was a miserable failure, SS was a success, chart, single and concert, just not behemoth like TC. But when are your going to actually discuss the musical composition and content? Can you, will you? No, Nope!!

Stop trolling. The downward spirial is on Ed, 150% on Ed. It will be known to the fans in time.

AllMusic.com is the only major music website that has reviewed all of Live's albums(Mental Jewelery to Paradiso). Secret Samahdi is the lowest rated album on that chart, while V and SFBM do quite well. It is all perspective.

Fans left in droves of all the 90's bands when the new decade hit. Linkin Park and the like changed rock music and bands like STP, Bush, Candlebox etc were all pushed out and disbanded. LIVE stuck it out, and tried to adapt, but new bands had taken over.

After a 8 million seller, yes it was. Secret Samadhi's initial success was based on being a followup to Throwing Copper. It also was one on Live's more maligned albums critically.

I like Secret Samadhi, but it was a far from a success for Live and actually started their downward trajectory as a commercial band.

Look idiot, TC was a phenomenon that crossed all charts and even charted on top 40. Along with that came many fans who otherwise wouldn't follow Live. They purposely went away from trying to duplicate that or even appeal to the majority of those fans. Like I said, they retained their core fans and had a very keen sense of what made them distinct and they were able to tap into that through TDTH until one person strayed from that formula. If you want to just look at numbers in a spreadsheet and say SS was a failure "compared" to TC then so be it, but you are really out of touch with what made them LIVE in the first place. Your idea of success may work for some cookie cutter top 40 band but that was not LIVE. Those that are able to push themselves creatively and make a career out of it are the ones that truly succeed. Ever heard of Rush? I doubt they are too concerned with charts or what fair weather fans think and they've been able to stick to their core principals for about 40 years because they are all on the same page.

If you actually think in your tiny pathetic mind that Secret Samadhi was an inferior album in comparison to V and SFBM, then you might be the biggest idiot in the world.

V and SFBM were complete trash, in every aspect.

Jesus christ ... listen to yourself. So Band A is more popular than Band B and C. Fans left in droves because the music turned to shit. If you like something, you like something regardless of popularity or anything. I stop following a band when their music turns to shit, not because they're not charting well anymore. The fact you see things like this is incredible.

Oh I don't know about that, SFBM was a pretty good coffee mug coaster.

edit: wait I can't really say that for a fact, since I never actually bought the album since it wasn't even worth the asking price for it.

Many old fans move on, and the next generation tends to care about the next hot, new act. It happens to nearly all bands. Name one 90's band that is as popular today as it was back then.

You really need to brush up on your music knowledge. Although LP and the like had their day it was short lived and the real impact on record sales for all was the internet. Those that adapted to that and stayed true to their core are reaping the rewards today.

Popular as in record sales, radio play? No one. The business has changed. No one sells what they did or gets the airplay they did. Just heard this week that one of the few remaining powerhouse alt stations Q101 in Chicago is going bye bye.

You're right. CCP rejoined with Jerry Harrison, replaced Ed with Kevin Martin, and totally bombed. Maybe Ed was to blame for that too?

Yes, many old fans moved on BECAUSE THE MUSIC STARTED TO SUCK! Live were never going to be the next hot new act because the music they were producing by then was shit. Promoting and all that aside because I know that's what you will fall back on. But there is no way on god's green earth that anyone could have done anything to make SFBM a classic album because it just wasn't good enough.

The fact that Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam (as much as I'm not a massive fan of either) can still come down here and play the massive arenas the way they did in the 90s and the way Live used to be able to do back in the day shows that people are still sticking around with them. Again whilst I was never a huge fan, they stuck to what they were good at. They stuck to what brought them to the dance. I love when bands evolve, but Live didn't evolve, they devolved. If Live had stuck to writing music together and doing things the way they worked best then they would have had a much better chance at staying relevant.
No they're not at the height of their popularity like they used to, but their slide compared to Live's is massively different.

Green Day is pretty big, still.

Pearl Jam is one of the biggest touring acts, and is one of those bands that absolutely doesn't give a shit about sales. They show up and put on one of the best live acts out there.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are also very big.

Do I need to keep going?
