Gibson released their top ten picks for MTV Unplugged performances.

MTV’s organic sessions known as MTV Unplugged resulted in wildly eclectic, one-time live performances that shook rock, grunge, alternative pop, hip-hop and popular music throughout the ’90s and into the new millennium. With some of the world’s most electric performers juxtaposed in an acoustic setting, the passion and sincerity behind each song came through like never before.

In this Top 10 list, Gibson.com pays homage to those bare bones sets and breaks down our Top 10 MTV Unplugged Performances to ever grace the small screen.

9. Live, “Lightning Crashes”

MTV Unplugged often shines best when showcasing heavy-hitting songs in a rarely heard, stripped-down format. But once in a while, a song that’s purpose-built for the acoustic setup really sparkles, and that’s what happened with Live’s 1995 performance of, “Lightening Crashes.” The acoustic performance has the band finding their groove and showing off lead singer Ed Kowalczyk’s budding songwriting.
