You thought TGF's album was going to outsell SFBM, I was pretty sure Alive or TGF wouldn't come close. I would leave SFBM out of the equation.

A new Live album should outsell Alive or TGF. However if the project goes forth without Ed, it won't be anywhere near as successful as it could be.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Apr 7 2011, 6:23 pm) *

I repeat it wouldn't be nearly as successful. You can't replace a lead singer with a distinct voice and strong stage presence easily. Especially a lead singer who wrote the lyrics to your entire catalogue of songs.

CCP with the lead singer of Candlebox wasn't successful from a commercial standpoint. CCP with a no name lead singer will be a really hard sell and it will be rejected as Live.

No-name, say, Eddie Vedder?
QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Apr 7 2011, 6:31 pm) *

The fact that TGF's album didn't chart overseas, says that is false. Plus correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Alive chart higher in the US than TGF's album?

If TGF was successful on any level, they wouldn't be trying to get Ed back in the fold.

Who told you they are trying to get Ed back?

You have proven to be unqualified to comment on these matters. It's not 1995, they're not on a major label with huge backing. In fact, the dynamics are completely different for most acts these days and they do not determine success with widespread commercial success. As versed in music matters as you claim, you should know this.

You what else? Forever is pants. I remember people discussing how there were glimpses of the old Ed in the bridge and that was exciting. And, retrospectively, that's sad as all fuck. One glimpse in a bridge? Yeah, not good enough.

Heyheyhey! Forever wasn't THAT bad, oke! wink.gif After SFBM, at least it sounded fresh in some way.
It's not rocking but still nice to listen to. Ofcourse Purifier was much better.

Btw, why is your flag changed into.... Sweden, bro? nervous.gif

An instrumental LIVE album would be very interesting, if it would really breathe the Live atmosphere. But I wonder how it can be a real LIVE sound, after TGF. I mean, put Chad, Chad and Patrick in one room, and what will you get out of that energy...? TGF-music? LIVE-music? Where's the border nowadays?

You're stepping into this one.

It think it was only 2 positions difference, so to you that is a win, but in reality over the longer haul who’s record was more successful, I know the truth. I can’t tell you the numbers, but I know TGF outsold. I am sure if you we find out how it’s selling in Europe now that they’ve played there, it might end up being comparable.

Alive was #4 in Holland was on their album chart for 12 weeks. Alive peaked at #27 in Belgium and charted in Australia.
http://swisscharts.com/showitem.asp?interp...tel=Alive&cat=a

The Gracious Few's album didn't chart in any country(despite being on the same label as Ed).
http://swisscharts.com/showitem.asp?interp...cious+Few&cat=a

Also, Ed's one show in Paradiso last year outdrew TGF's entire European tour combined handily. TGF's overseas following overseas is almost nonexistent. Whether TGF's album outsold Ed's according to soundscan in the US, I really don't know(most of Ed's sales have taken place at actual shows). However, Ed's album has clearly moved more copies than TGF's overall and he is a much bigger draw on the road.

NOBODY FUCKING CARES! One is actually enjoyable to listen to, while the other makes me want to put a gun to my head.

And one is the former lead singer of one of the most successful 90's bands and one of the most easily distinguishable voices of his time. Yet he's got very minimal commercial success nowadays and by Nicks standards that makes him a huge failure.

He's solo/indie and his album hasn't had a ton of solo success in the US. However, he's drawing solid on tour, and he's doing well enough that he doesn't have to crawl back to CCP.

As I said from the beginning, Ed can downsize to solo acoustic in the US and draw well enough. TGF does not have that luxury. That is why they are trying very hard to open for other (bigger)artists. They simply can't draw enough on the road.

Unfortunately Nick doesn't get this. I like Nick and all, but he doesn't bother to address this because he knows we're all right.

You hold everyone but Ed to some unattainable standard. If you were even half as critical of Ed he'd be a huge failure.
