QUOTE(edstipe @ May 9 2006, 1:57 pm) *

I'm by no means a huge rap or hip-hop fan, but to call 2Pac's music garbage is showing some pretty extreme (musical) ignorance. His lyrics and voice reflect an entire portion of America in a way that is far beyond what Live, and pretty much any other rock band still around, ever could. The impact and influence of his music has reverberated on society to an extent that only a very small handful of musicians (possibly Elvis, The Beatles, The Ramones and other early punk bands) have. It's a shame that you make a blanket statement about him based on an entire genre of music that you obviously don't like (and probably have no understanding of).

Very well put.

U2 has got to be one the worst attempts at a band ever. One the most over-rated.

Although I like U2, I would have to agree that they are overrated, especially based on the second half of their career.

HOWEVER...to call them "one [of] the worst attempts at a band ever" is pretty ludicrous, don't you think?

Out of curiousity, why do you think they are among the worst bands in the history of music?

I might be exaggerating a bit...but I do think they're pretty bad.

I'll also admit that it's probably about time I sat down and listened to one of their records again.

But yeah, I've just never heard anything even merely creative in any of their songs. They're just the typical pop-rock band. They don't seem to put much thought into their work. None of them (as far as I can tell) are even remotely skilled, technically. It's all so simple and bland and boring and cliche and boring and bland.

Bono's a fucking parasite.

I usually take every oppertunity I can to run U2 into the ground so here's another, and it was beautifully said by Paul Weller about Bono - "You have to have an ego to get onstage, but that's a mental illness."

So fucking what? Do you know anything at all about 2pac? stfu.

so go post on a 2 pac site...i don't want to know anything about him...i come here to talk about live and hope to remain forever blissfully ignorant about 2 Pac...i intend no disrespect toward his fans but live is totally different music...as far as ragging on ed goes, that is your right also, but i am sure 2 Pac probably forgot a line or two in his time...so what?

Actually, U2 has the most talented musicians of all fucking time.

To deny that is the same as denying the greatness of the Beatles.

you just lost all credibility in 2 back2back posts lol

U2 are the most overrated band of all time. Seriously what the hell is it about them that stands out. They're just so mediocre that it isn't even funny. Bono's voice isn't exactly anything special, he can sing, but it doesn't take your breath away. The rest of the band don't exactly excell at anything beyond belief .. they don't have a Jimmy Page or John Bonham in the band .. I just always have failed to see exactly what the hell anyone likes about U2.

Meh...

at least Bono has more range than Ed Kowalczyk.

Also... losing credibility?

I could fucking care less.

I agree that Ed's range is limited .. as in he CAN hit the high notes, but he doesn't exactly do that all the time.
I always just found Bono's voice extremely bland and boring.

Nah, if I had to say who the most overrated band in history would be, I'd go with Nirvana.

And I think you guys might be going a little far with respect to U2. Yeah, their more recent output is utter crap, but back in the day, with albums like Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, these guys were pretty good. After Achtung Baby it went downhill, though.

You're kidding right? I love Bono but Kowalczyk vocally could kick his ass anyday. Ed's vocal range is incredible! He can go really low ( Walk the Line ) and really high. His voice also has more dynamics to it than Bono. He growls, yodels, gets soulful, shakes it (his signature sound ) and holds long notes.

If I was a man, I would want to have Ed's voice. In fact, I would love to be a man for a day, just so I could sing Live's songs in Ed's low register oh! and sing like Serj from SOAD. I know i'm crazy hehe.gif but damn! I love their voices that much. It would give me one day away from sounding like Delores from the Cranberries and Harriett from the Sundays.
Ah Well, that which will never happen

ok, this thread has gotten so off-topic I started a new one in the other topic zone...I was inspired by the Nirvana remark...GOOD CALL...Cobain is dead people, let it go!

Bono can go much higher.

Listen to "Lemon" and you'll be changing your mind.
