Quick Thoughts On The Songs:

Appetite - Love it!

Honest Man - Nice Song

Guilty Fever - Skip. Music is average and Kevin's falsetto throughout the whole song is unbearable

The Few - Love the intro. I didn't think this at first, but after I read the lyrics in the album book I do think this song is a message aimed directly at Ed.

The Rest of You - Everything but the refrain reminds me of a 311 song.

Crying Time - Didn't care for it at first. It's grown on me

Silly Thing - Sounds like a crappy Candlebox song

Closer - Takes to long to get going. Once it does it's not bad

What's Wrong - I guess every album has to have a slow song. Not bad - refrain sounds nice

Tredicim - It's alright, nothing special / nothing horrible

Nothing But Love - Every time I hear that opening riff it makes me thing "King Nothing" (Metallica). It's not as prominent a riff as Metallica makes it, but there is only a subtle difference at the end of it to make it different. Song is alright.

Sing - Sounds like another 311 song with the exception of the refrain. I like 311, so that's not a problem.

All I Hear - Everytime I hear the start of this song I think of some teen movie where their trying to make everyone on their way to school seem like an exciting start to the movie. The it fades out and the characters are at school and the movie starts. Overall, as the song progresses, I really get into it.

Overall

I have to say I really wanted to love this album, but in the end I come away just really liking it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The album has some great moments, most of which were released by the band before the album dropped.

I think a lot of the songs are musically sound, and sound good, but in the end Kevin is a below average singer that brings down a few of the songs on the album. At times he just belts it and sounds good, but a few times on the album he really stretches past his capabilities or doesn't seem to put much effort into how he sings the words.

I know their choices were probably limited when looking for a singer and they probably found the best person that they could, but at times he takes away from a song rather than sustaining or adding to it.

One thing I really noticed about the album is that it is not very consitent as an album. The band seems to start it off with a rock identity and by the end it seems like I'm listening to a 311 style band. The songs are fine, but as an album there seems to be a split personality going on between the start and the end.

I would say that I enjoy the effort, love many of the songs, and am glad I made the purchase. It is not the greatest thing ever but it is a solid rock album that definately has it's moments.

I give it a thumbsup.gif
