The Netherlands is where I always turn to really gauge any band's commercial success strawberry.gif

It was the country were Live had its greatest success. The test was to see if Ed could be successful there solo, and he was. His success enabled The Gracious Few to get signed by V2 records. I think all parties should be happy.

Do you know this for a fact? Or is this just more theoretical bullshit you're passing off as fact?

If Ed's CD flopped for V2 records, I seriously doubt that they would have tried to sign the rest of Live. Just a couple of months ago TGF were talking about how they signed a worldwide distribution deal with EMI to get their album out to the masses. This V2 partnership sounds like a very recent thing.

If you look at V2 Benelux, Ed Kowalczyk is currently one of the biggest acts on the label. "Alive" is the only album from V2 on the top 100, and they are probably hoping that a new band with the rest of Live will offer a similar result.

That's great for Ed, couldn't be happier for the chump. But don't say that his success "enabled" TGF to get signed, that makes it sound like without Ed TGF couldn't be successful (which is something I know you'd love to say is true).

In this case, Alive's success for the label in the Netherlands looks like it may have helped TGF get signed to V2 Benelux. If Ed's album failed for the label, I seriously doubt that they would have signed The Gracious Few.

It only helps Live in the Netherlands for both acts to be successful.

Don't get me wrong - I'm one of the few here that actually love the album. I just don't see an old 90's band lead singer breaking threw with a new solo career and I don't know why Nick has to act like he is going to.

I just hope the members of Live keep on making music, even if t is on a small scale.

I think Ed is going to have a successful solo career. Will it be on the scale of Live? Absolutely not. However, he has shown able to keep most of his Live following in the Netherlands. He is headlining many major festivals and selling out shows while his album is charting well in the country.

In the US and Australia, he will be able to tour off of the name of Live and be a successful act. The Open Wings Broken Strings shows have started a new brand for Ed and he can tour with different acts in an acoustic setting. He can also perform solo acoustic shows anywhere in the world. Also, Ed may be able to cross over as a Christian artist. That is a new avenue for him to explore and he likely would do well.

Will Ed be a monster success with his solo career, most likely not. However, he will be able to tour for years to come, release new music, and put on successful shows worldwide.
