QUOTE(Pokey @ Jul 22 2010, 9:19 am) *

That's the thing, it seems like when TGF played their first festival show Nick was ready to jump on how little people were there and wouldn't accept any reasons people gave him for a smallish crowd. Now when the tables are reversed he's expecting everyone accept why Ed gets such a poor turn out.
Like I said I honestly believe Nick that there were more than 30 people there off camera, maybe not 500 because when Grace ended and applause started it wasn't very loud.

It's the performance that gets me .. by both accords the TGF festival show and this show from Ed were both disappointments crowd-wise ... the difference was the performance. I've obviously only seen video of both but the TGF boys were up and about and into it and getting their shit on regardless of how many people were there. Ed and his band just looked lifeless, the band barely moved, as I say all Ed does is walk around with his knees bent bopping.
I guess the proof may have been in what Shave said, it was a free show, and we know how the EK is motivated by the dollar, just not inspired to do anything by the fans I guess unless they're paying.

I thought his performance was just OK...but he did stick around after for fans that wanted to meet him or get autographs or whatever.

The show at The Chance 2 days later was a lot better all the way around...I enjoyed both, but far and away the better show was at The Chance.

From the video it looked like over 100 at the show, funky was there and said there were 200-250 or so all up I think. Like I say, not the greatest turn out, there were reasons. Same with Ed.

And yes that was projection, but hey it fits the bill (the dollar bill! ). Either way, for whatever reason, completely uninspired performance.

I meant temperature-wise.

Oh .. well, the performance was hot at least hehe.gif
We don't use fahrenheit down here so I didn't make the connection. I'm sure it would have been tough for Ed performing in that heat, not totally pleasent. But apparently he was "hyped" before the show and so were the band. That and Nick is always droning on about how you gotta put on a good show for the fans ... he berates Pat and Chad for "mocking" Ed and ruining the show and not just gritting their teeth and bearing it. You could say the same for Ed then performing through the heat ... I just thought if you're on stage doing something you love you should come up with a little more than .... that.

If people are entertained by that I guess that's fine, easily pleased or something. Like I said, I actually think it's a good thing I saw this clip, in the back of my mind in amoungst all the ragging on Ed when you've been a fan for so long and seen him every time he's toured for over 10 years the thought of him touring and not seeing him is a bit strange and I still had doubts myself that I'd not just sneak on over to ticketmaster.com when his show was announced. But I think I am quite comfortable with the decision now and the money will be better spent elsewhere and I'll leave it to others to see him.

It was 102 degrees with the sun beaming on a small stage in NYC. TGF had a 10 pm slot on a huge headlining stage. Big difference in performance conditions.

Wern't you the one going on about how when you're on stage you gotta grit your teeth and bare it in regards to putting on a great performance for the fans? You know like the whole Pat/Chad "mocking" Ed? Why is this any different and Ed and the guys shouldn't just grit their teeth and go all out to entertain?

IT WAS 102 DEGREES OUT! CLEARLY IF IT HAD BEEN COOLER OUTSIDE, THE GOD THAT IS EDDIE K. WOULD HAVE DRAWN OVER 10,000 PEOPLE. THEY WOULD HAVE LEFT WORK EARLY, CALLED IN SICK, AND SKIPPED THEIR LUNCHES. LORD KNOWS THAT WHEN THE EK PERFORMS HE MAKES ALL THE LADIES WET!

But we aren't family, I'm sorry to say. Not even RL friends. We're fans. Devoted fans, but we don't know the flesh and blood people behind the band at all.
I think it's important to remember this.

I never meant it that context.....I never said flesh and blood. Stop making thngs up..

Ex was only kidding, Itchy. eh.gif

If that's the case, I apologize for missing the sarcasm. Insomnia struck once again and when that happens.....well, I tend to take things a bit more literally if there's no strikingly obvious visual clue. (Such as an /sarcasm tag).

Itchy, Ex is totally not serious!!

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who missed it. Apologized above, but it could have been a bit more obvious. Being up all night isn't exactly conducive to wanting to go back and double-check peoples' past postings for consistency of tone.

If Ed wants to play the Katalina Wine Mixer, he had better put on more inspiring shows.
