Nick, I have it on good authority that your knowledge of the music industry is pure schlock and you should stop with the propaganda you spew. You never phrase your answers with 'in my opinion', you throw it out there like your fucking Howard Stern or something.

This brings in the question of when will, at long fucking last, will everyone here stop trying to get Nick to come in to the light.

Don't feed the troll, people. He is full of shit and it's starting to attract flies.

In order to be played in heavy rotation on most stations, a song should clock in at around the 3 minutes mark, yes.

eh not to rain on the parade or anything, but I've been listening to the track on and off all day and I'm actually inclined to *kind of* agree with Nick. instead of growing on me I actually have found it kind of boring already which is strange. I do see what he means by the verses being pretty great, I love the bass on them, and the song does kick into gear at the breakdown where KM is howling. But the chorus doesn't quite have the kick it needs, I don't know if I really like the term "crying time", it's like another song by a band I really can't remember that used the words "dying time" ... the imagery of there being a designated time to cry or die doesn't quite fit right. I know that's probably being a bit pedantic, but just not a fan of the way the term is used. I liked Nick Cave's "the weeping song" title better, as in a song to weep or cry to, not a specific time.

However, unlike Nick this is based purely on my taste, not what would make a great radio single or what will appeal to the masses to maximise sales or song length or whatever bullshit is thrown about. Hopefully it'll grow in me more but I'll put Honest Man, Tredecim and Appetite above this so far.

It costs an indie band a lot of money to get a song on the radio and Honest Man was released too far in advance of the album release date. It actually was doing decently on the Active Rock chart, but to maintain the momentum for 4 months was a lot to ask. TGF is going to have to spend even more money to get a second single on the radio, and honestly it probably isn't even worth it.

The payoff for limited radio play isn't worth the cost in most situations for an indie band.

How many songs have tried to get played on the radio? I have managed 4 indie bands and they have all gotten airplay and I didn't spend a dime. It just takes work, dedication, and a great song.

In short, you don't know what you are talking about so you should really just shut the hell up.

Damn that Zeppelin is brilliant. That clip makes me ask myself whether Live is my favorite band. Page and Plant together were unparelleled magic. Who could rivet you to his guitar like Page? Just wow.

Anyhow, Crying Time is excellent. I love the song and it reveals itself more and more every new time that you listen to it.

Nick, your posts on this message board have now become the turd in the punchbowl. You are like the character Dr. Evil on Austin Powers. You're a caricature of what you think you are. It's gone past irritating to just funny. I could take you seriously and even possibly consider what you state, if you demonstrated even the slightest bit of deviation from your unwavering, unidirectional, unconditionally-blind, loyalist. monotone drumbeat of Ed-centric promotion, and self-congratulatory, half-assed music industry knowledge.

Dude I love Live but there is really no comparison here whatsoever, and I imagine they would agree with that (even Ed!).

Someone once told Gracey on Facebook that he was the greatest drummer of all time and Gracey told them that John Bonham is the greatest drummer of all time. Glad Gracey and I agree on that.

Now whether they are your favorite is up to you, but Zeppelin is a superior band in nearly every way (over most bands!) and laid the foundation for riff based hard rock music since then.
