Draft:

Dear Chad

On behalf of the worldwide community of your fans I am writing to you to reveal our greatfullness for the years of tremendous music you offered to us and for many years to come with TGF.

All through the years of dedication to what you do we did our best to follow you be it seeing you on stage, buying the records of yours or simply enjoying bootlegs from the shows all over the world. We think that we proudly possess nearly all the recordings that you took part in. However, since around 2003 we all heard about several songs that are either legends or they do exsist and we never heard them. This is why we decided to write to you with a request. If they dio exsist, we sure are dying to hear them. And, while not the very best way to do that, we still take this chance to ask you for those recordings.

Both the members of FANSOFLIVE and WhereFreaksTalk message boards (which both are the fansites since 2001) we made a list of what we have been dying to hear for years. It includes

New City (we know that there is one version circulating, but none of us ever got a chance to hear it)
Wash the Blood Away (does it even exsist)
Change (studio or demo version)
Pop Vortex (once again, we hardly know if it exsists)
Pat's SS demo CD, which was mentioned in the FOL newsletter when he graciously decided to offer the recordings of Mallrat and Photograph with all of us.

We would be incredibly happy to receive at least a couple from this list.

I hope it does not sound too brassily, as you seem to be the only person in the entire world who can help us with this.

Thank you very much beforehand. Good luck with TGF. We can not wait for the record in September.

Please, greet the rest of the band.

Faithfully yours,

Good stuff, though some wording needs fixing up I think.

I think it's important that we also say we'd be greatful just to learn something or anything about the little known tracks. Maybe he can't share any MP3s with us, but COULD tell us all about New City and Pop Vortex etc. That would be pretty cool too.

So I think we need something in there that basically says "we'd love to get them from you in some form if we can, but would also just love to know more information about them" or something. That'd give it all a bit of a lighter touch, and give him more of a choice of how to respond. You know what I mean?

Oh, also, Dangum - you should ship an email out (forum mailing list, or website mailing list?) about this, tell people what we're doing and see if we can't get more punters in. smile.gif

Good idea. It's possible to send out a group email to all the forum members. The problem being that Chad is a forum member and would therefore receive the email as well...

Is there not a mailing list that people sign up for on the website?

And maybe there's a way to exclude certain members from the forum email??

Not sure.....

Hey Ed - hope you don't mind, but I just polished up the letter a bit for you. Feel free to fix it back up if I've broken it in anyway! lol.gif

-----------

Dear Chad

On behalf of the worldwide community of your fans we are writing to you to reveal our gratitude for the years of tremendous music you have offered us, and for the many years still to come with The Gracious Few.

All through these years of dedication we've done our best to follow you, be it seeing you on stage, buying the records or simply enjoying bootlegs from the shows all over the world. We think that we proudly possess nearly all the recordings that you've taken part in. However, since about 2003 we've all heard about several songs that are either only available in obscure, low quality form - or only appear as legends, and we don't even know that they actually exist. This is why we have decided to write to you; we have a request. If they do exist, we sure are dying to know about them. We want to learn about the little known tracks like New City and Pop Vortex. So whether you can tell us more information about them, or even be able to send us a version of these rare tracks - we would be ever so grateful to you.

Both the members of FANSOFLIVE and WhereFreaksTalk message boards (which both are the fansites since 2001) made a list of what we have been dying to hear for years. It includes

New City (we know that there is one version circulating, but none of us ever got a chance to hear it)
Wash the Blood Away (does it even exist?)
Change (studio or demo version)
Pop Vortex (once again, we hardly know if it exists!)
Pat's SS demo CD, which was mentioned in the FOL newsletter when he graciously decided to offer the recordings of Mallrat and Photograph with all of us.

We would be incredibly happy to receive anything that you may be able to offer us. We hope this does not sound too upfront, but you seem to be the only person in the entire world who can help us with this, and we decided that now is as good a time as any to see what could be done about this. You don't get if you don't ask, right?

Thank you very much for reading this, and in advance if you do decide you can help us in some way. Good luck with TGF. We can not wait for the record in September!

Please, greet the rest of the band for us.
