In court all that matters is what can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. If Ed circumvented the other band members and signed his own deal which trumped an existing deal, it will be very obvious he is wrong and there will be a tangible amount of damages suffered. How much work he actually did makes no difference. He may have done 90% of the work and should therefore be entitled to 90% of the money, but if the initial contract wasn't set up that way, then that's his loss, not a reason to create a new contract behind the others' backs.

Ed can not easily counter their lawsuit by claiming damages from negative posts on the Internet. That case would be thrown out in 2 seconds. There is absolutely no way to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ed lost X amount of dollars as a direct result of the negative posts. No way to prove it; case closed.

ONLY if what he said is untrue. Which I don't think it is. It is up to Ed to prove what Chad said is untrue. I learned this in a law class.

Most civil cases are settled anyway. A long drawn out trial will only cut the band members future earnings.

I also see nothing of a secret publishing contract in these court files. Did I miss something?

That's fine, a job is a job as far as I'm concerned. There is no reason to personally attack anyones education level or job(like you have been doing towards me).
