I was not paying attention and posted this in a new thread after watching some youtube clips. Here is my 2 cents!

OMG!!!! Check out the new version of Lakinis Juice from Ed's new band on May 8th on youtube and compare it to the Hammerstein show in 2008! No comparison! Even Ed himself is different in the two performances. The 2008 show everything just flows and it gives a glimpse of classic LIVE. Ed's new band cant even come close to the being as aggressive and rocking as LJ should be. Ed even gives this mean look on his face but you can tell its forced and just looks out of place after hearting songs like Just In Time and Great Beyond. I think Ed needs to leave this song in the closet. It will never be the same which is sad because it is one of my all time favs.

... I will say that the clip I heard TGF play though absolutely rocked! If Ed's new band could add some edge to it and some darkness maybe he could pull it off but for now he has even managed to turn Lakinis into pop rock! sad

TGF could probably get away with LJ as it's more well known for its guitar riffs then the vocals. However, I think TGF had the right idea when they said they were going to play the more obscure songs. KM's a great vocalist but Ed's voice is the one burned into so many people's memories on many Live songs.

There is another option, though, if TGF does choose to play some hits, whether they are Live ones or Candlebox ones. Live has always had great covers, perhaps they could give the same treatment to the hits they play? It doesn't have to be a radical change up, hell, on some songs a simple key change could do the trick. With just enough shuffling, though, the song would sound like a TGF song but with a familiar bend to it.

Now that we have heard TGF do Lakini's Juice I think we can agree Ed's is way better. Kevin can't handle Ed's voice at all. He's ok at best!!! rockin.gif

Ed's band should rename the song "Lakini's soda pop" because it's pop music hehe.gif

Bit hard to judge KM's voice on that clip anyways due to the poor quality. Oh and Ed's voice can't handle the song either anymore so another hehe.gif

Someone posted it in the thread about TGF's first gig. It's pretty bad quality, but you can tell it's heavy. Like it should be.

No he hasn't (unless he was there), he's just basing his judgement off a poor recording that we can see and his own bias opinion.

Ed K's voice of the 90s is really tough to beat and is perfectly suited to this song, Ed K's voice as of now is that of a failed American Idol contestant and doesn't contain the raw power and emotion and anger and grit required to pull off such songs, enter Kevin Martin who can still fly the flag. Ed is better sticking to his Just In Time pop songs where his vocal abilities now lie.
