i really hope the enthusiasm displayed by the local media is echoed nationally and internationally. not that i care if other people know them, but so that its more likely they make another album! Looks promising so far.

i take it all the northern hemispherianers are sleeping. Rosemount cab sav a pretty good drop:

"An old dream is dead and a new one is being born, as a flower that pushes through the solid earth. A new vision is coming into being and a greater consciousness is being unfolded...A new strength, born of suffering, is pulsating in the veins and a new sympathy and understanding is being born of past suffering - a greater desire to see others suffer less, and, if they must suffer, to see that they bear it nobly and come out of it without too many scars. I have wept, but I do not want others to weep; but if they do, I know what it means."

At least they rethought the only obscure Live/Candlebox nonsense. You have to play crowdpleasers like Lakini's Juice and Far Behind!

Yeah totally, because from the sound of the people that went they absolutely hated all the new songs that they didn't know! Lakini's Juice and Far Behind saved the show man!!!
I'm sure they're play the more obscure stuff soon though, it's the first show, just a test run.

Thanks though to Aitkin and Heather and everyone for keeping us poor suckers who wern't able to go in the loop with how the show went down ... sounds absolutely amazing, it sounds like Nick would have hated it, which basically means I would have loved it .. can't wait for an Aus tour!

It was a hometown show of local hardcore fans. It was great you had fun.

Yes, I probably would have been bored for the most part.

BIG thank you to everyone who posted reviews and updates and commentary. Especially Aitkens (who is a God). That was so cool. Getting the reports and reviews. It shows community and sharing of a love for this band and the music. I wish I could have been there, but I got excited and got to enjoy it through this website.

That clip of Lakini's Juice is insane! Compare that to the Ed K clip posted in another thread - the Ed K version seems like the American Idol version. The Kevin Martin version actually sounded better than Live to me. Am I crazy?!?! That short clip actually made me forget and move on. And by the way, when you watch Chad Taylor in that clip and hear the subtle nuance of those chords, doesn't it tell you loud and clear that Chad Taylor is the heart and soul of Lakini's Juice? Ed's band may have played the same notes, but it didn't have the song's soul like when Chad, Chad and Pat play it.

Damn, I'm excited. I haven't felt tis excited about a band since Van Halen in the 1980's with David Lee Roth. Let's do this thing. Bring it. I want to see a show. I am going to wear my TGF T shirt all weekend until it stinks and stands up on its own.

Awesome recording, thanks everyone!

Haha, and check Chad's quote in the newspaper article:

QUOTE
He joked that Live would get back together "when hell freezes over," but he pointed out that Don Henley said the same thing about The Eagles and the group ended up getting back together.

I'm denying CT is the soul of Lakini's Juice and personally I would rather not have Ed's band playing the song because I associate it as CT's song. However, Chad, Chad, and Pat have been playing the song at every show for 14 years. I would hope that they play it better than Ed's band that has played about 10 shows. I think Chad T plays Lakini's Juice a helluva lot better now than when he first did in 1997.

Personally there are certain songs I would wish Ed's band wouldn't play (LJ is one of them) and certain songs I wish TGF wouldn't play because I don't think it would sound right. But that's just my opinion.

By the way, glad to see they had a great show last night! Can't wait to see them in concert! I was a little worried about Kevin Martin's voice when they announced him as the lead singer, as I'm not much of a fan of Candlebox, but on Honest Man and Tredecim he was awesome.

I totally agree that it depends on the song. I have my own rules for this. Some Live songs are Ed-centric and some are Chad, Chad or Pat centric and some should just be played by Live. I would BLAST TGF if they tried to play Run To The Water or They Stood Up For Love because they are only for Live to play. TGF can play Stage and Heropsychodreamer. Ed's band can play Overcome and Mirror Song. Lakini's Juice and White Discussion may not be played by Ed's band, and probably shouldn't be played by TGF, but I think they could get away with it, like they did with this Lakini's Juice performance. Stuff like that - those are my rules.

I want to revise my previous statement. On Lakini's Juice, Chad Taylor is the soul, Pat is the heart and Gracey is the brain that controls the tempo. In Live's prime, there was nothing better than seeing Ed and Chad doing the coordinated jumping and stomping. But I don't think we'll see that again for a long time. At the end of Live, Lakain's Juice went down hill. I wasn't a fan of the mega phone and Chad and Ed stopped working together in the middle of the song like they used to. TGF's Lakini's Juice that I just watched helped me ease into the mourning of losing one of the great experiences in life - seeing Live do it live.

I'm sorry but the only way you would have been bored would be if you are blind and deaf. You're a complete hack, making a statement like that.

I will say that I finally crashed around 2am and was up for work at 6am, and I'm still amped up from last night.
