QUOTE(SJN1279 @ May 21 2010, 1:19 am) *

The Gracious Few are trying to get people to hear their new single. They had the perfect opportunity today, and totally blow it.

Live sold millions of albums by promoting their singles, not by playing random songs off of album's with no set release date.

Ed Kowalczyk is trying to get people to love jesus, water, kids, coffee, buddha, zion. He has a perfect opportunity each day and totally blows it.

Great stuff! That was cool when one of the radio guys said "..I love having rock stars in the studio". Damn it's getting close. Really really close and I can't wait! It's gonna be absolutely amazing to see the +boys+ back up on stage again.

You'll know it's me in the crowd...I'll be the guy wearing the t-shirt that says 'THANK YOU' across the front of it nod.gif

Then why bother release a single at all? Promoting a song from your album over your lead single when you have interview time on radio station makes zero sense.

Perhaps every one of their songs are single quality and they can play whatever the hell they want because they have quality tunes.

If you release a single, that is the song you promote. It is band 101.

And you know oh so much about the music industry don't you Nick?? Is that why you're a producer/marketer/executive/dickface?

I for one am glad they DIDN'T play HM in the studio. Why would they? They plugged their name, single, album and tour, why not give the audience a taste of something new? Shows off their talent, passion and music. Give the audience another reason to buy the album, see the tour and join this little band of raving lunatics! banana.gif

Jesus christ that is moronic ... like I said, you look at this purely through the eyes of a record exec who cares more about money and publicity than the music. If you have good songs that you're proud of you promote them in any way, any order, any how you see fit. Not everything has to follow the same cookie cutter mould that you're used to. Some bands come on and play the b-sides to singles instead of album tracks because they just like them so much ... you play with heart and passion and those people who hear it and like it will pick up and tune in on that. Is it going after sales hardcore? No, but that's not the point, music is meant to be an art, not a business.

Band 101 is writing and playing quality music, what you're thinking of is marketing 101, which isn't the objective here. You should send them a message on facebook and let them know where they're going wrong, I'm sure they'll be glad to get your input, it surely is the difference between them living in a gutter somewhere and living in a multi million dollar mansion.

Nick is all about hammering one song into people's heads ... he is of the opinion that if you hear something enough times on the radio you will like it and buy the music. Playing more than one song from the same band confuses him. He likes bands to basically come out with about 3 songs every 2-3 years, this album stuff is just a bit of nonsense obviously! You bring out your 3 songs, you push them one at a time, make as much money as you can, and repeat ... that is music ladies and gentlemen!
