Looks like he was aware he made a habit of it and stopped using that word until the solo stuff:

DOAD:
there was void and then that water broke
"oh nothing, water, wait and see."
"give 'em water and let me know,

Mental Jewelery:
and put your feet in the water
put your head in the water
put your soul in the water
some of your water
tired of the water
make him waterboy

Throwing Copper:
water backed up
our love is like water

Secret Samadhi:
took the water from the toilet

Distance to Here:
run to the water
but water wasn't my style
been in this water all my life

V:
holy water in my lungs
this holy water

Birds of Pray:
Come hell or water high

SFBM:
No mention of water but Water references, River, sea, hurricane

Radiant Sea:
No mention of water but Water references, Ocean, Sea

Just In Time is more Jesus music. It is very thinly veiled (really more like totally unveiled) Christian rock. This is exactly the kind of song that teenagers wearing big wooden crosses and preaching abstinence, can sit and listen to in their Honda Civic on their way to the training classes for their upcoming missionary trip.

All I hear over and over again is:

Water and wine
Bread on the table, breaking bread together
A higher place
See the light

Every single new song from Ed is directly and openly oriented toward Christian faith. Every one. Zion. Everlasting Love. Grace. Now Just In Time. How did this happen? What is going on? I don't want to follow a Christian rock band. I don't have anything against Christianity. But I don't want it in my music, just like I don't want it from a couple of people wearing suits knocking on my front door on a Saturday morning to hand me some pamphlets.

I don't think that it is a coincidence that at the very moment that Ed decided to go full-out Christian, the other three said they have had enough. I am sure that the contract issues are involved, but I distinctly remember Chad Gracey tweeting celebratory tweets about making new music that doesn't mention God.

I love Ed's voice. And I love the music he has given me in the past. And I love to hear him perform those songs. But I don't like being preached to.
