I too like the original better because it reminds me of the old days jumping up and down it at the concerts.
However I don't know that the difference between this one and the original is because the "new" band is not up to it. I would suggest that Ed's target market is a little different to that of Live and that he is trying to make this song fit into his setlist of less hard rock music. Besides if it sounded exactly the same what would be the point?

As a musician that is a trillion times more offensive to me than if the band just weren't very good.

QUOTE(Pokey @ May 13 2010, 7:54 am) *

Which sounded like it would be about 7 people?

These people, and yourself, have a very, VERY low standard when it comes to music .. no wonder the music industry is in such a mess when people are happy to just be spoon fed trash and accept it as "fine".
God the amount of absolute QUALITY musicians out there, guys that would even put CT, CG and PD to shame is incredible, and you're happy with this??

Actually Belgium was sold out, no idea about crowd size in Cologne, and both audiences were really into the song.

The new band won't perform every Live song as good as the original, especially when Chad, Pat, Chad played Lakini's Juice every show for about 12 years. It just isn't possible. However, the song still sounds like Lakini's Juice and still sounds damn good.

So Nick you will even say you enjoy the behaviour of the new guitarist more than Chad's stomping?

Ed must respect his former band's old material about as much as you do.

Yuck.

I have no problem with him playing Live songs, but he should stray from songs that really depend on CT's guitar riffs. Guitarists own guitar riffs just like singers own melody lines, and it hurts to listen to this bland copy.

What if they played it all this way: Ed singing Live to an acoustic guitar and TGF - only instrumentals, without vocals! happy.gif

I'd rather have Ed on acoustic, and Railo on the keyboards and Adam on cow-bell and bongos than listen to THAT guitarist rape LJ.

I think you put it perfectly there. Including the fullstops.

It sounds fine to me and probably 99 percent of the audience at the show it was recorded.

Come on, you really have to give the other guys from Live more credit then this. Playing music has been their job for 20+ years now, replacing them with a group of amateurs is going to make a difference. Just think of how many shows they've played as Live over the last 2 decades...experience like that is not something these new guys have.

I know you dislike TGF for the way they've handled the break-up, but Live was not just Ed and nothing proves it more than these videos. I'm pretty sure I've seen even you mention that it's likely Live will tour again just because there is money to be made...well there's a reason for that and it goes beyond just the name "Live".

Even this video, which is horrible audio quality, sounds MUCH better than Ed and his new band. The rest of the band brings so much energy to the song, I don't see how anyone can think otherwise.

Edit: Ed's drummer is really terrible. I'm no musician or anything but all I hear from this guy are cymbals.

Yeah, I freely admit I know nothing about music, but I was just listening to a bunch of these tracks off YouTube and "Grace" came up and I JUST thought, "Why are they only playing the damn cymbals!"

Not to give the guy too much credit or anything because he is as bland of a drummer as they come (perfect for Eddie's new tunes), but cymbals tend to cut through on video much louder than anything else. Most drummers play them really loud too. So just knock him for other things like playing the most obvious rhythms possible.

Stephen, give this Heaven vid a spin and then choose any BoP era Heaven. and compare the drums.

It will all become clear. And I tell you, as a drummer myself, it is not about the cymbals. Mostly not. But the cymbals are really horrifying

The soul of this song has been completely gutted, I listened to about 10 seconds and had enough. I respect EK's voice, but putting a lame band (Exception being AK) with this hard driving rocker is sacrilege. I know that EK wrote the base of LIVE's music, but please don't disrespect the past with this lame backing band.
