Old bird? lol. I expect all the 'old birds' to be standing at the back while their 14 year old kids are screaming at the front wink.gif I'll be there with my older brother, probably the only two guys there minus the band, so you should be able to spot me ok.

I think InMe have a wicked band image, there's no bullshit. You know what you're gonna get. I do read the bands' question threads on their forum, and yeah Dave is amusing, as is Greg in a very blunt way. No bullshit, as I said. no.gif

Fuck standing at the back. I might be rapidly approaching 40 way too fast, but life's too short. The two InMe gigs I've made it to I've been right at the front, about a row back from the stage fending off escapees from the wall of death. The last one I went to Fei Comodo were support and the crowd was fucking mental before InMe even hit the stage. It was like "Alright - we're Fei Comodo!" and everything went RAAAAARRRRR! for about half an hour.

So if I scream DEKU!!! at any blokes near the front you'll know who I am? lol.gif Not only will I be twice the age of anybody at the front apart from the band, I'll be the only female without badly dyed black or red hair and too much black eyeliner on. I grew out of all that in about 1989 when I was the same age as most of the crowd will be. Probably will be wearing black though as my standard gig outfit for me is black jeans, black t-shirt and lace up boots I know I'm not going to lose should I get buffered into the pit. That way it doesn't matter if you get covered in beer and sweat (happens every sodding InMe gig I've been to, by the way) because nobody can see it on the train home.

Greg is so funny - he reminds me of me as far as if you asked him something he's about a subtle as a brick in the face. I far prefer the band since Joe left and Greg joined. His vocals gel so much better with Dave's and he sticks to singing on stage rather than talking a glass eye to sleep. I often wonder if the band had changed their name at that point if they would get less flak or stereotyped as still being the post grunge kids they were back when they started than they have.

Yes I was. HIM were not quite as shit as the last time when Ville had a chest/throat infection, but I wasn't exactly in awe or anything. I must remember never, ever to go and see them again as they are the most static, boring band to watch. It's a toss up between them and Muse who are the most bitterly disappointing live band I've seen, but unlike Muse it hasn't put me off their CDs. I was about 6 rows from the front when Dommin were on, but before HIM got onstage the behaviour of the bunch of obnoxious and childish little prats behind me made me go and stand at the back as I was very close to punching at least two of them in the face for screaming down my ear about wanting HIM while I was watching the band of the night by about a mile.

Dommin however were magnificent! I know you can't stand them, but I like them more than ever now. They played with genuine passion, actually moved about and Kris the lead singer has fantastic stage presence. I met them at the merch stand and all four of them are absolutely lovely, really friendly and completely down to earth. I got a quick chat with each of them and a hug from Kris. I told them the truth - I'd only come to the gig to see them really. Good job really or I'd have had a really bad night otherwise. As it was I had a fantastic one!

By the way, is it me or is the sound at the Academy diabolically bad? Ville sounded like he'd been on helium. Kris sounded fine, but he's got more vocal range than Ville so it's hard to tell. To be fair on HIM, I'd have probably enjoyed them much more if I'd not loved the support band so much and just punched the girl behind me out and stayed where I was.

Yeah I agree. Dommin were the better band on the night. Their sound was so clean, and as a band they were totally tight and looked really glad to be there. Shame I still don't like their music though. HIM on the other hand...not sure where to start. Individually, the band members didn't do a lot wrong. But the sound was muddy (disappointing considering Dommin sounded superb), and the setlist wasn't great by any means. We could have done without When Love & Death embrace, snore. The main problem though, in my eyes, was Ville. He seemed pissed off from the word go, I don't know what his problem was but he didn't even bother singing half of St Valentine. He Barely connected with the audience, or his bandmates, and that lack of energy from the band transferred to the crowd, who were pretty shit too. There was a lack of decent rock on the setlist, and the only time I felt I was at a gig was when I was in the only pit of the night for BABL, which was the heaviest song on the night. Usually Ville looks about the audience, smiles, jokes, interacts, but there was none of that on Sunday. He looked desperate to get off the stage, and he didn't hang about when presented with the opportunity. Disappointing all round. Static indeed. On a positive note, I enjoyed Scared To Death. Maybe because that's the only time I could actually hear Burton's synth.

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I totally agree with you on the setlist - it was rubbish to be honest. I have always despised When Love And Death Embrace. Why of all songs drag that one out of the back catalogue did they choose that one? Ville did seem a bit out of sorts. I'm pretty sure he was rude about Dommin when he unenthusiastically asked the crowd what they thought of them. The crowd didn't respond too much and normally they would have cheered if Ville had asked them what they thought of jam sandwiches. He mumbled something I couldn't hear, but sounded like he basically blew them off. Not a good start to a UK and USA tour is it. I actually lost interest totally about 5 songs into the setlist and would have fucked off home if it hadn't been Sunday and there only being one train an hour. I ended up people watching instead - some of the sights you see! I kept seeing this bloke dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow complete with tricorn hat saunter past. lol.gif

Ugh When Love & Death Embrace was one of the worst, along with Wicked Game. They've played that one every time I see them, and it's dull as hell. Ville was in an odd mood for sure, though I'm not sure about being negative about Dommin, not that I can ever understand what he is saying anyway. But he's usually a very polite and courteous person, so that doesn't add up to me. Lol, I didn't see the Jack Sparrow. Just a load of obnoxious goth chicks.

Mike Doughty has an electronica project entited Dubious Luxury that I'm looking forward to hearing. That is, if it actually gets released this year or not.
