Reviving old thread... New Album dropped today in the States!

It is getting very good reviews,

Listening party notes

Album's Wiki with many reviews and facts

LISTEN TO THE WHOLE ALBUM HERE

If you have to listen to any song, listen to Black gives way to blue. It is dedicated to Layne and built in his image. Pull up some lyrics and give it a little time. Acid bubble is also a rocker that will be stuck in my head all day.

What do you guys think of this album? Have we changed after a couple years to accept Alice in chains for what it is?

The moment I heard it, it gave me the impression that they just picked up from where they left off 14 years ago.

Layne's all over this album, if you know what I mean.. hauntingly beautiful, and painful at the same time.

Early favorites are Check My Brain, Last of My Kind, Private Hell, and the title track.

I got over the shock a while back. thumbsup.gif And I'm really glad William has some new material that nobody is going to be comparing him to Layne on (don't look at the screen like that - you know I'm not the only one thinking that!). I like him a lot as a frontman.

Dammit - I can't do the listen to the whole album thing. What I've heard (about 4 songs) I like - Check My Brain not so much but this version of Your Decision an awful lot. It's like a reply to Nutshell.

I love that version too... everything sound fantastic acoustic with AiC. If anyone needs is kinda on the fence about the new lead singer, check this video of Would? He brings his own style but looks like he belongs there.

Watch it to the end, you won't regret it.

I actually really like the live version of Check My Brain from that same set - better than the album version. AIC sound phenomenal live and DuVall can really deliver the goods as far as that goes. He definitely belongs there and has great chemistry with the rest of the band. LAyne's were never going to be the easiest of shoes to fill.

I'm totally skint for about 2 weeks, but I think the album is going to have to be bought.
