-The crowd was pretty quiet during the first half(obscure songs), but came to life big time for the second half of the show. Ed's shirt stayed on.

perhaps i was hallucinating -- but i seem to recall the shirt came off during the encore.. eyebrow.gif

WOW. Just WOW.

This is the proof: the band does read this board! eyebrow.gif Fans are complaining for years that teh setlist doesn't cahnge enough, and that there are no surprises. But seeing this setlist is a REAL surprise, let alone if you were there yesterday night. I guess I wouldn't even believe the orgininal poster if Ed didn't tell the day before that they would rehearse old songs. Lift me Up (the most favorite outtake of every fan!), GHGW (very rare!), Top (one of the few TC-tracks that haven't been played since the mid 90ies), Purifier (they did it!!!) , and add to that they played these cool tracks in stead of The River and Wings (or did you just left out of your post rolleyes.gif ). I just can't believe this, the setlist haven''t been changed so much in one time for years. And imagine: they now didn't even play good songs that they usually play, like Shit Towne, Waitress or The Beauty of Grey (just to name a few...). Now if they change the setlist every show by shuffle all songs (for example not starting with the same song every night), the shows would be more intense than ever. I really hope to hear Lift me Up live, so keep it in the setlist guys.

Allright, that was the positive part smile.gif. A note: I think that teh recording of Lift me Up was cool, but to me Live sounded like a band that was covering that 1994-song. Don't get me wrong: the song was awesome, but it was just a little different. But I see this song - if they keep it in the setlist and they rehearse it a few more times - cecoming the highlight of future concerts. And although it's really cool Live decided to bring back this outtake (bring on New City, Change and Don't Wait as well please?? tongue.gif ), it has everything to do with that movie, right? I mean we haven't ever heard the band talking about the song, or them saying they love the song.
whatever, I'm excited to see future setlists!

anyone else have some recordings of these few? I must say, "DAMN! Way to update the setlist and keep the good songs in from the old one!" lol.gif The Hold Me Up performance looked spot on to me, and it's great to see that not only is Chad T proving himself no longer useless on stage, but Ed's got the guitar back, too. Thought he was getting lazy tongue.gif

would love to hear their 'modern' rendition of Top, and especially Gas Hed! Forever would be nice to see.. same as The Distance! If they play a setlist like that in Australia when they come by next, I would be beyond happy.

And wait a second.. intro of old classics, playing both of the new songs (never expected Purifier in concert, did we?), Bob Dylan cover in the encore... who believes, beside me, that this is a VERY good signal of them producing some better material the next time they hit the studio? hell, might even re-record Hold Me Up... tongue.gif thought it was too rare to see in concert, maybe now its not so unlikely to see some old rarities re-recorded?

I didn't see this thread til now either........posted 'on the road' earlier, but I'll get into the fray here:

I was at this show too and loved it. Extremely surprised to hear them alter the set with songs like Gas Hed and Top.............christ, Gas Hed is one of my all-time favorite Live tunes. Purifier was a cool opener. The classic Lift Me Up outtake was great. And of course WD was a great close. I'm fired up and can't wait to get to AC. I wouldn't mind if they played the exact same set in fact.....one or two additional surprises would be nice, but the same set wouldn't bother me at all (not every day I say that).

Ed took the time to give a girl in the front props on this being her 400th Live show! That is hard to comprehend. I thought I was devoted - last nite was number 52- but I seem like a freaking amateur compared to this chic. Anyone know who she is and if she posts on this board? I'd love to hear about her experiences and how she went about getting to such a staggering number.

FYI ON SET TIMES / OPENERS: IMO, Bear Hands is damn good and worth checking out. Not comparable to Live at all, buy I dug their sound. Have a bit of a Modest Mouse thing going on. I missed the band that opened the show, and Bear Hands came on second and started around 8:30ish I think (a little fuzzy on the time). It wasn't a long set, but really solid. Live started about 9:25-9:30, and played til a few minutes after 11.

Holy shitttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIVE is back!!!!! I cannot wait till they come back to Atlanta, hell anywhere in the southeast is good, need a roadtrip anyway! So does anyone think there is a good chance we may get a recorded version of Hold me UP on the new album. This could be why they are now playing in concert. Maybe they bought the rights back to that song. That would be awsome!

.....omg Gas Hed Goes West. That is one of my all time favorites. Never thought I would get a chance to hear that live.

Very nice! Switch Top the fuck out with the song linked below though. Could you imagine if they pulled this fucking song out again? This is the second most rocking concert tune Live has besides White Discussion. Check out Dalheimer on the bass on this shit!!!! Light it up Patrick!!!!

I'd beat up my grandmother to see the band go at a song like this again!!

did you all read the SOY threads? I read Gracey told a poster after the show some other unbelievable songs would return to teh setlist! (don't know if that's going to be tomorrow, this spring or just in the future?).

However, after 26.march nothing seems unbelievable, right? tongue.gif
