Shinedown Update from Brent
04.11.2008

Hi everyone.

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I wanted to reach out to all of the Shinedown fans myself and let you know what's going on firsthand. We just heard about Jasin's recent troubles in Jacksonville, and our thoughts and prayers are with him. A lot has happened this past year and there have been some changes within the band that we've been meaning to tell you about. I love Jasin like a brother, we all do - he'll always be family and we hope all of the best for him, but, at this time, he's no longer with us in Shinedown. This all went down awhile ago, and I'm sorry to break this news today. I realize that this isn't the best timing, but with stuff like this, there really isn't ever a good time. We just felt like we couldn't wait any longer and had to let you all know. We've brought an old friend into SD - Nick Perri. Nick's an amazing guitarist and we've known him forever from our days on the road with Silvertide (many of you were probably at those shows and remember him too). We also have a new bass player - Eric Bass. Just a fantastic musician and all around great guy - we can't wait for you to meet him. And you will very soon - we're hitting the road next month. I'm also happy to report that the new album is finished and we're so excited to share it with all of you. Its called The Sound Of Madness and will be out this summer. Please stay tuned to the website and radio stations out there... the first song is coming soon. Lastly, I just want to thank you again for all of your support. You're the best fans in the world and the reason we're even here. Without you, there is no Shinedown. Don't ever forget that - we definitely don't.

Brent

Oh man, I love Shinedown so much, I think I might cry. I really don't like it when bands change their line ups, especially not after I get to know and love them so much. First Brad (bass) left, and now Jasin, it'll never feel the same again. This totally sucks big time.

I am still unbelievably psyched for June 24th when their next album, The Sound of Madness, comes out, but this has completely stabbed me in the heart, I am SO upset right now.

I've been to three concerts where Ed's voice was sick and he really struggled to hit any notes, but he powered through the performance anyway. He could have easily put the track on to mask his problems, but he didn't cheat the fans that way. Ed is the consumate professional in this regard, he feels the show must go on and be legit.

Brett from Shinedown has a limited vocal range. Not an awful singer at all, but can't hit all the notes. Live songs are very hard to sing unless you have strong pipes, so I don't think he'd have an easy time doing their catalogue.

To be fair, Ed is a VERY good singer, both technically and pure talent.

Brent (not Brett) has a GREAT vocal range, perhaps not as big as Ed's (Ed's is pretty damn world class though), but then Brent has more power I think. On his day, Brent CAN hit all the notes, of that I'm sure. Both Live and Shinedown's songs would be hard to sing, I'd guess. Both guys would have a tough time covering either.

I have no problem with Shinedown, I actually like the song"I Dare You" quite a bit. I was curious about the lead singer singing to track, because if my fav song from the band was done in that manner, I rather not see them live. I wasn't trying to compare them to Live or anyone else just was curious.

I have been listening to "sound of madness" NON STOP!!!! hearts.gif

I wish LiVE could put out something new that gives me goosebumps the way shinedown does. Not only is it rockin' but the lyrics speak to me and life, much more so than the fluff of the last few LiVE cds.

IMHO....just in case I get reamed for the fluff comment..........

Why can't you just enjoy the CD and not compare it to Live? Shinedown is a totally different band than Live is.

I can cuz I want to and that sounds soiooooooooooo juvenile....just about as juvenile as your responses to anyone who doesnt like LiVE...or compares them to any other band out there.

Btw, isnt this a shinedown thread????
