Maybe it's just me but if your music isn't going to sell anyways, why not make some kick ass rock music??????

Why not incorporate Pat's bass more like they did with him in the early days when LIVE were at their best? Why not Jam and put some of Taylors blues influence into the music? Why not let shit fly and create some creative music?

Where have the days gone when there were actually well contructed bridges in their music. Was there even one bridge on SFBM? NO and it fucking bored people. It ran on and on with happy go lucky, uncreative two and a half minute pop songs.

If I were in a rock band, I would want to look back and say, "fuck we created a great album there!" Not, "fuck, we created three piece of shit albums we thought people would buy and got laughed at."

Last bridge I heard in a LIVE song was in Like I do and a well done bridge it was. Coincidentally, last good song they made...Give up on the bubble gum pop bullshit and play your instruments with the god fucking given talent handed down to you for christ sake.

i heard a radio interview a while ago where ed was asked if he still listens to old live. his reply was along the lines of: no way i cant listen to old live, it makes me cringe, we've improved so much

All of it is better than SFBM, unless you're a 9 year old girl.

uhm what?

TDOAD better than SFBM? Anyone who thinks they haven't improved when you compare those 2 albums (well albums, more a casette and a cd), 'has really no music knowledge at all! come on, be serious!

You can like TDOAD more or something. Oke. But that's something completely different! I also have moments when I think nahh, no poppy SFBM right now, and I put (for example) TDOAD on. But it's no way better! SFBM has songs, melodies, relaxed vibes and and overall sound that they couldn't have made without the f*ckin' 17 years of experience between those two.

I think they're probably the two most alike albums .. the thing is DOAD has youthful innocence on it's side, SFBM has no excuse. If that album was written by a bunch of kids making their first stab at music then it's probably forgivable, but from a band that has progressed through albums TC to SS to TDTH ..eh.

I think lyrically DOAD is leaps and bounds better, ok songs like Paper Flowers are silly. But I really adore the lyrics on Who Put the Fear in Here, and would rank that greater than anything on SFBM for starters. Both albums are extremely "safe". But getting back to my original point, DOAD was safe because, hey, it's all they really knew to play at that time.

I definately agree with you here on the point that fans expect something more comprehensive and less safe after their albums in the 90's. But on the other hand, SFBM wouldn't be possible without those albums. Without their 90's era, they would still playing paper flower and she my sista-songs laugh.gif

Yeah .. kinda missing my point there, I'm not saying I wish all they would do is DOAD type stuff, just that I think it's better in pretty much every way than SFBM. I don't really get your point on it "not being possible". Are you saying that without making amazing, thought provoking, interesting, complex and engaging music they wern't able to make bubble gum pop rock like SFBM, how does that work? To me, quality of recording/money to produce aside, it would not surprise me as a new listener to the band if someone told me the order of albums went something like DOAD > SFBM > BOP > TDTH > MJ > TC > SS (V is entirely seperate) .. that to me is more of a normal progression. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the differences between some of the albums, I love the jump from the broody weirdness of SS to the explosion of light in TDTH ... but to me, the quality of the material seems like DOAD and SFBM go hand in hand. So Ed not wanting to revist the past and not listen to it is sort of strange seeing as how alike they are.

Hate to sound like Pheezy but he was right about Live's music. There's no creativity now, musically or lyrically.

And come on!!! Telling me it takes 17 years to make that kind of sound and those kind of melodies? Please tell me you are joking....please. Because that ranks up there with some of the dumbest fucking things I've ever heard.

All these so called melodies could be put together by the most novice of music writers. There's no chord progression on guitar, no exploratory instrumentals, no bridges, no well....nothing. It was over a half hour of recorded shit meant to appease the ears of what EX said, 9 year old girls. Britney spears fans should have loved it because lyrically, the ideas are the same. Musically, honestly just a bit better that I imagine Brit is capable of if she picked up the guitar.

The only appealing parts are the few parts where Pat shined with his bass. But they drowned that out with production, big surprise!!! If this band wants to be respected at all, they need to get back to their roots. Making music like this one time is bad, continuing to do it is downright fucking embarassing.

they need a complete transformation in terms of their public image. They need to re-invent themselves as musicians. like the artist formally known as prince, known now as prince, did.

Hmmm... never thought about it before but SFBM and DoaD are similar!

Imagine if DoaD would have gone through studio editing and been tweaked like they did for SFBM. I think it would have been better than SFBM. Imagine if "Sister" didn't have that sound issue where the volume drops mid song... always bugged me! sad.gif
