Its the same one from pinkpop 2002? see thats why I got none of the live versions, why release an audio version of a song that you released as a mini DVD to go along with one of your albums? (BOP), if this is for the hardcore fans then I'm sure there are more hardcore fans than me now and I ripped the audio from that DVD 4years ago..

Ahh... Good ole Live and their shitty decision making. See Nick, it's not always the record company's fault.

I just got mine in the mail today, didn't get a chance to listen to it, but it is very disappointing that they couldn't put a single live recording of an unreleased song on there. I wouldn't mind this release as much if it wasn't advertised as rarities. Before I was upset that they would include live recordings of unreleased songs on a compilation record instead of the original studio tracks. Now I'd be super happy if live versions had been used.

Does Live think fans don't want the unreleased stuff? Did they even pick these tracks themselves?
Why are they so against releasing non-album tracks? If my memory is correct, with all their CD singles that were released, they only ever gave us 3 real b-side (2 on Four Songs and Vine Street). Songs almost never turned up on later albums (Freaks and We Deal In Dreams I think are the only ones I believe that did).

Well at least we now know why they offered Radiant Sea for free to fan club members.

I never really paid attention to the Fan Club releases, but I'll be curious if they provide a fan club release this year....

Yep, it was played a number of times on the Throwing Copper tour.

I actually thought Freaks might have been recorded for Throwing Copper. I know for sure they were playing it just after Throwing Copper came out, but I swear there was an old studio recording floating around, but that may have just been a concert performance....

I think Overcome may have been another song that had been held over. Back when V came out, I thought I remembered reading that it was a leftover from TDTH era (but it could just be they were playing it a year or more before V came out)

yeah that's right. I didn't know about Freaks, ...kinda odd, cuz when I listen to it the lyrics of the song fit very good in the SS-album, and aren't realy TC-ish.
but yeah, you're right about Overcome, it is definately a TDTH song. It was played several times in concert in 1998, and by that there's also the TDTH-version of the song, that proofs it was made before V. It's the (studio) version in which you hear the full band. But nobody has it.... except for Dan maybe lol.gif .
The strange thing is that Ed talked about Overcome in a tv show and said - in relation to 9/11 - that he wrote it 'nearly a year ago'. That's totally wrong.
Ohw btw, Ed told around 2001, after the recording of V, that there were several songs that weren't used for TDTH, but made their appearance on V. I wonder what the others (besides Overcome) are?

I bet they were "Nobody Knows" and "Hero of Love." They both have that kinda TDTH sound. I hate NK but HoL is cool. I listen to songs 1-7 and number 15 on that album mostly.

Yeah, there are plenty of songs played in concert way before the cd.

1998

Sun
Sparkle
Meltdown
Face & Ghost
Overcome
Where Fishes Go
Run To The Water

2000

Nobody Knows
Deep Enough

Early 2005

Sophia
Show
The River
Mystery

I can't wait for the spring! New stuff often comes after a new year has begun.

hey tnx, interesting list! Didn't know about DE already played in 2000? And 1998 is a really interesting concert year I think: there are many songs played that we never heard anymore after that, neither live or on record. it was maybe the most creative period for live, making so much songs that aren't even used.

Ohw, btw, about comin' spring, yeah, there's indeed a resonable chance we'll hear new stuff, seeing they would probably recording at the end of the year/begin next year.

You figure 97 and 98 were probably good creative times for the band. There was nearly a three year gap (two months shy I guess) between Throwing Copper and Secret Salamander (I'm sorry but sometimes I wonder if the unpronounceable record title hurt sales, compared to the interesting choice with TC). Anyway, virtually all the songs for Secret Salomi were written in early '96 so they had over three and a half years before their next album was released, plenty of time to write a lot of good tunes.

I just bought this and digitally downloaded it. I like both of the new songs, although I have only heard them a few times. The concert songs that fill up the rest of the album are all pretty decent, I Alone is from a concert in Belgium in 2003. I know so because I have the video of it...

I retract my earlier negativity and replace it with pure positivity. A cheap price, two decent new songs and some good concert versions of the classics. Not bad at all. smile.gif

Oh yes, and to all you cheap motherfunkers who want this ripped - quit being Cee U En Tee's and pay for it.

i just have received my CD and i'm 100% sure that the songs are from the "V" era, the songs are produced of Alain Johannes, the disc is great!!!

I assumed that the art of the disc is the same of the digital download, but only the people who bought it, can tell...

i think that this disc is great for the people who don't have the other friendsoflive holiday gift, i'm included since i have only the 2005 and 2006 FOLHG!!!

PD. thumbsup.gif Radiant sea is a great song!!!

I'm a big fan of this CD too. Don't have the gifts and the concert songs are great. I think that Overcome is better than the original. Lakini's Juice also rocks. Both of the new songs are good and great to here. I'm more of a fan of Beautiful Invisible though. And NO, I do not like country music - just a cool song.

THANKS LIVE hi.gif
