Some countries didn't get the Dual Disc that included a great interview with Ed and the making of The River.

QUOTE(gotigrz @ Nov 13 2006, 7:35 pm) *

you're right.
why? why do you think Jesus would be fine w/ anyone saying....

"Jesus, a man of love and strength,.......... but He doesn't mean anything to me today" - Operation Spirit. i doubt very seriously that Jesus would be "happy" with that statement.

"let me be your saviour" - Saviour for a Day. there's only one saviour.

"the greatest of teachers (Jesus) will leave you there by yourself chained to fate" - I Alone that's just wrong... Jesus never leaves us.

"to Christ: a cross to me: a chair i'll sit and earn the ransom from up here" - selling the drama. Jesus wasn't earning any kind of ransom. He was dying for us.

there are plenty more of these types of lyrics in Live's songs, but if you are a true Christian, how could these lyrics NOT bother you?

Oh my God, it's the Middle Ages!!!

QUOTE(gotigrz @ Nov 13 2006, 9:58 pm) *

what's the difference in me reading the Bible, the Word of God, for guidance and truth and ed reading some book, by a man that most people have never even heard of, for the same reason.

QUOTE(gotigrz @ Nov 13 2006, 10:52 pm) *

please don't compare The Holy Bible to some book by some guy, or any other book for that matter. The Bible is WAY more than a book. the Bible isn't a book of one mans opinion. the Bible is the book of prophets that were told before they happened.

Ahem...Dead Sea Scrolls? Ever heard of them? I really wonder how you'd explain those...

aLIVEinNORWAY: sorry, I mean the dvd side of the disk of SFBM.

I don't know if they brought out this in Norway too, but in The Netherlands they also brought out Songs From Black Mountain as a so-called DualDisk.
You have one disk, but one side is the audio-cd, which contains the whole album and the other side is the dvd-side.
The dvd side contains an interview with Live (far out the biggest part is an interview with just Ed) and acoustic versions of "The River", "Mystery", "Love Shines" and "Get Ready", performed by Ed.
Further it contains the making of "The River"- clip and "The River"-clip itself, with all Live members.

I hope you can buy this in Norway, because it can't be copied, there is a safety-something on it.
And it's in my opinion really worth it to have and watch it.
(If you are really interested in what Ed wants to tell about life, humanity, spirituality and nature and if you love acoustic music).

But if you want it and are really unable to receive it another way, I'll try to find a way to copy it for you.
But I'm afraid I can't promise you.

GvB.

i'm sorry but i think you need some atention...

i just can't keep reading this, but let me tell you something

IF YOU DON'T LIKE LIVE OR ED OR JESUS OR HITLER, THAT'S WELL, because i can tell some things about religion, or christianity, but that's not the fact, you have your preferences and your thoughts, buuuut, as you can say all of that things, i can tell: MAESTRO, EN VERDAD ERES UNA PERSONA SIN GUSTO MUSICAL, SIN NINGUN FUTURO EN ESTE MUNDO CON TANTAS DIFERENCIAS, EN DONDE LA DIVERSIDAD ES TAAAAN GRANDE Q TE APLASTARA COMO CUCARACHA Y TE REVOLCARAS EN TU PROPIA SANGRE!!! jajaja, can you understand my piont? I can't understand your reasons, or your thougths but i respect that, I can respect your opinion, I can listen you, but your acts speak so loud that i can't hear your freakin words...

or maybe your words are so inmature, that i will listen you.... mhhh, never?

good luck in this world, i hope that someday you will enjoy it!!!
cheers!!!

QUOTE(gotigrz @ Nov 13 2006, 2:31 pm) *

he clearly states "to Christ: a cross and to me: a chair" and from that chair he'll make the money. if i'm seeing this wrong..... please,....please show me how.

i use to make the excuse that maybe ed isn't singing from his point of view, but instead, the point of view from society. but, when he starts telling people to think of the budha under his tree (love shines) when you want to find love......well,.... i'm sorry, but i don't follow budha.

This is how I see it:

Ed is sometimes singing from another point of view.
For example: the soldier in "Home".
(In the verses he is the soldier, in the chorus he is himself again).

And I think that he does that too in "Selling the drama", but in a less obvious way.
I think you see it good if you see that Ed is there not singing from his own point of view and not singing from the society point of view.
At least in the verses.

In the verses he sings from the point of view of a person who can be seen and followed as a leader by other people (that leader can be for example a teacher, a preacher or maybe even a president or prime minister) and who likes the power he has too much.

But in the part from: "I've willed".... to: "scarred like that" Ed is himself.
There he tells that he has, at least tried to believe and maybe even to follow such a leader.
Maybe he even used to follow one.
But he found out that this leader did not want the best for him at all, but was just interested in his own power.
Ed was obviously hurt by it, but he got over it.
And I guess that he hopes that everybody does, and I think that that is the reason that he sings: now WE won't be raped, now WE won't be scarred like that.
It's I think about that he stopped to listen to what these so-called leaders say, and started to make up his own mind.
And I think that Ed would like to advise people to make up their own minds and to make their own choices in what to believe and that he wants to advise us to watch out in who we believe.
And that he advises us to be critical to every leader.

I don't think that Ed wants to force you to believe in Jesus or Buddha or whoever, I think he only wants to show us that he believes in both and made his own kind of believing out of it.
And that it's possible for you to find your own way in believing, and that that's possible for everyone.
And I guess that the only thing that he hopes that we do is, making or own minds up so that we can finally find our own way in life.
And that we see that there are between all miserable things, beautiful things too.
And that that makes us willing to work on a better world and to live in peace with ourselves, and maybe even to go and live in peace with each other.

I guess that that is what Ed wants to tell us.

Do with it what you want.

GvB.

Those podcasts you could watch on Friendsoflive.com a few months back were parts of the DVD side of SFBM.

If there is one thing I've learned from living in the USA bible belt it is that you are not going to convince a fundamentalist that they are being narrow minded. They can't even conceive of what you are talking about because to them that is all that exists. It isn't until they actually open up their heart and feel the real love for the world that Jesus himself felt that they will understand how their rules and condemnations are all useless in the face of real religion, which is the infinite love that Jesus, Buddha or Ed even speaks of. Fishouttawater did a good job trying to relate the ideas I thought!

QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Nov 13 2006, 5:44 pm) *

"I am in NYC today. I visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral. There is a statue inside of the fallen Christ. He is lying in Mary’s arms. There is one just like it in the St. Mary’s Church in York, Pennsylvania where I was baptized and confirmed. Today, I knelt and wept at this beautiful and Sacred monument to the Dying God. I was overwhelmed by a feeling of deep, unfathomable Compassion. I cried and cried and cried. Not a single person looked at me twice. I touched His Blessed Feet, caressed His Wounds, and, in a New York minute, my entire life to this point, passed me by. What is any of this but the Dream of the Christ? Every-Thing surrendered perfectly in Compassion. Good Night and God Bless You all."

Who says this board is closing? I'm confident that it will stay open, as well as the site itself. Just sit tight and things'll be fine, I'm betting.

there is a little interview behind each played song accoustic by Ed. You can't choose for the interview just as an option in the menu, I thought..........
Your dvd dòes contain the accoustic performed songs? Cause than check out the endings of the songs smile.gif

SecretInsomnia: I'm affraid that the Epic label brought out more kinds of SFBM (with a dvd-side, without a dvd - side, with a dvd side with less contents than the one they brought out in the Netherlands). That is f*cking discriminating to fans from for example Norway and Australia! banghead.gif
