This is not LIVE as we know it. wow.gif

https://paramountny.com/shows/live/

“After a multi-year break from touring, I am totally ecstatic about singing and playing for LIVE fans again!” says +LIVE+ singer, songwriter and frontman Ed Kowalczyk about the multi-platinum and critically acclaimed band’s tour dates this fall.

“And I’ll be surrounded,” Ed adds,” by an absolutely stellar group of musicians that have all spent years captivating audiences onstage with LIVE all over the world. It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see you all!”

For these dates, the band’s classic lineup is unavailable due to various extenuating circumstances, so Ed has hand-picked a group of musicians who are part of the band’s extended family: guitarist Zak Loy (who’s been with Ed and +LIVE+ for 10 years), drummer Robin Diaz (the former Hole member who performed with the band for two years) and bassist Chris Heerlein (who played in ED’s solo band for six years). The +LIVE+ set list will be comprised of their massive hits and fan favorites—songs that have defined the alternative rock era.

I didn’t see that part in the announcement. I have the same questions now!

I’m all for Ed continuing.
I figured there was something up with Pat & that he was “team CT,” so no surprise there.

My question/concern is, didn’t Ed almost get sued the last time he toured solo and tried using the name Līve? What’s different this time?

‘The band’s classic lineup is unavailable due to various extenuating circumstances...’

So apart from Ed the rest of the band is on vacation and unfortunately can’t make it. Okay...

Well, happy for Ed he can get out and play again, but didn’t see this coming, after seeing such a enthousiastic and motivated Chad Gracey.

I'm wondering how Ed can get away with using the name Live when he wasn't allowed before, or does he have majority controlling interest now and can do whatever he wants?

I support these shows and will try to make it but UGH.....am just so sick of the lack of transparency. Ed saying "New Live shows" without acknowledging the line-up is lazy and an insult to our intelligence. Say SOMETHING beyond the stupid line written by a publicist (because it IS noteworthy that the line-up is completely diff).

Smells funny too cause if it were truly a scheduling issue, who's to say that have to do it now? They already waited 2+ years anyway. Smoke and mirrors per usual.

I'm sure they have their reasons. It's just frustrating to be treated like this as fans. This is my emotional first take. As I said, I'll go and support regardless.

I understand how the name LIVE sells better than ‘Ed Kowalczyk from the band LIVE.’

But please just promote it as solo shows. Keep it true to the fans, he can play solo songs as well then and it makes it all less confusing. He was about to go play solo again as well, right? How will he ever be able to play solo shows now, as it is called LIVE now solo as well?

I hope CG and PD will join again soon. That being said, I’ve seen Ed solo twice (once in a theatre and once at Pinkpop, TC 20yrs) and aside from the fact it’s far from a LIVE show, it was still very good. Not sounding raw like in the old days, and musically not too interesting, but boy, that man can sing.

Ps. What if at one of these shows an EK song will be played? Does ‘LIVE’ introduce it as an ‘Ed Kowalczyk cover’? hehe.gif Like I said: confusing.

This is just Ed's new solo band playing Live music.

Gracey seemed on board, surprised he's not

Loy is in the band, but it's not 717 with Loyve's songwriting and excessive takeover, so I'm hesitant to call it Loyve.

It's like Friends of Ed - Presenting Live

Or just Ed Kowalczyk.

It's definitely not Live.

I’m hearing it’s legal issues (UFD) tying up PD and CG and that they will be back after it’s settled. Hoping that’s the case.
