I like it better than Love Lounge that's for sure. Ed's vocals are what I expected but not as bad once you get into the song. Song has a lot of the old Live elements so it's definitely a good step. This could be really good in concert.

I already listened to it more than Love Lounge so that's something...

Little tiny baby in the womb is not a great way to start off a track. Lyrically at least.

Agreed, I like it more than Love Lounge. Great guitar riff and killer drums.

I prefer the title on SoundCloud, simply Giver. I'm curious to hear more about how Stephen Perkins ended up on the track. I'm getting more excited about the EP and --fingers crossed-- a headlining club tour!

and the article mentions that is in the 2nd single from the EP.

I agree that it will probably be a good concert song. I'd love to hear a live version.

It's different- reminds me a little of of STP's Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop album.

Totally different from what I expected. Took a few listens, but now I’m digging it. Great message to the song.

I like it a lot! Great riff and great overall sound. Ed sounds good too. No complaints from me. Makes me anxious to hear the rest of the EP. Great job boys!

Both songs are pretty bad to say the least, especially when one compares these new tracks to Live's early material. Live was once a pretty unique band that over the years had become totally bland. Boys still can play, Ed still can sing, but there is no soul and heart in it - unfortunately.

Reminds me of an old Filter song for some reason.

I think its pretty good, maybe the chorus is a bit more poppy than I would have hoped, but overall a pretty good step in the right direction for Live. Great guitar riff.

I know its been out for 5 minutes, but anyone had a crack at the lyrics?

First impression is that it's mediocre. Production is not professional, sounds muddy. Lame to have another drummer. That solo doesn't sound like Chad either, Zak Loy strikes again? Doesn't sound like Live to me. I'd like to hear a new Live track with the members of Live and a real producer. I kinda like that slow breakdown. Overall just as forgettable and unlistenable as love lounge.

At first listen: different than expected. But I certainly do not think it is bad, as some think.

This sounds like LIVE, more than Love Lounge did. LIVE anno 2018 yes, but there are several familiar elements that makes it that it could only have been recorded by our guys. I didn’t have that feeling with Love Lounge.

Gotta listed to it more like Nick said to like it (or not), don’t know yet, but sure as hell I loved to read it was created like many of their best songs we love were written: bad ass Chad T playing his guitar (check that video!), going to Ed, with Ed digging it and writing some lyrics. Welcome back!

Just got home from work and I have listened to the song three times with my headphones (don’t just listen to it through your phone or computer speakers) and I am in love. It literally brought happy tears down my cheeks. Ed could yodel over this music and I would not care, but even so, he sounds amazing on this. I love the lyrics and I’ve almost got them completed. There’s just one more little part I need to hear a few times, but I’ve got an errand to run, so later. As others have mentioned, I can’t wait to see/hear this in concert. I will lose my shit.

You guys who are unhappy with it or just think it’s mediocre, I honestly am at a loss of what to tell you. Stop comparing, it maybe? I just don’t understand. Until now, I didn’t like hardly anything they did after TDTH (heck, and I only liked half of that album). This ROCKS! It blows Heaven and Mystery outta the water, it has Līve’s signature “slow it down/speed it back up”... What else could you possibly want???

On first listen:

Like a little tiny baby in the womb
Like a little tiny lotus in the mud and in full bloom
If just a blade of grass can find a way
Then baby you know we can only rise
We can sneak around this veil of ancient tears
Take a detour and come up inside the minutes of our finest hours here

You know they say it takes two to tango
But it's gonna take a whole lot more than that if you wanna rock & roll
And I'm never gonna bring you down
No, I swear I'll never screw this up again
Everybody's gotta hear me now the way ahead is finally crystal clear

I believe that what you give is what you receive
Oh well, oh be a giver man
Be a giver, man...ooh baby hee heeeee

Be a giver in your soul
Be a light where no one goes
Alone and free of fear
Be a giver

I believe that what you give is what you receive
Oh well, oh be a giver man

Thank you san sao. I think you pretty much nailed the lyrics. I was still deciphering “veil of ancient tears”. Maybe change “give us” to “give is”? Love the “ooh baby, hee heeee”. -I lol’d! lol.gif

I like it - the song itself is very good, especially when you compare it to music on the radio today.

If you are still looking for a 90's song or a 90's version of Live to produce a song, you'll be waiting forever. You won't get another album like TC or SS ... you'll get 2018+ Live.

Here's another thing - if you took a song from every Live album and let someone who'd never listened to Live before hear it, I bet they would say it sounds like a totally different band on every song. It's just the way it is with Live.

One thing I'm not digging is the production quality as others have mentioned. Get in a studio with a producer you've worked with and get the right sound guys!

Anyway, I think that they're doing amazing things, and they sound great. We aren't getting all SFBM songs so I'm good ... as long as they put Hold Me Up on the 25th TC release ..............!!!

Yep, butterfingers on this new phone, but I fixed it. Lol.

It might be "well of ancient tears" which would make more sense, but didn't sound right.

I like it more and more every listen, which was the opposite of Love Lounge. Def has more of a +Live+ feel but evolved. Great energy and guitars. Don’t love the first few lines of the song and the rock n roll line. I do like the chorus and soft part at the end. DefinTely better than anything this version of Live has put out in decades and makes me hopeful.

Full review to come after a few more listens.
