So, i was reading the comments on the youtube video of the NYE concert and found this interesting little comment. I am certainly a fan of Ed and i am not passing judgement, or even saying this is true or false, just thought i would share.

I remember Ed doing just that at the Perth 2004 concert I saw. Somewhere during the second or third song, cant really remember, but it was very early on, he was making aggressive hand gestures to someone to the left of stage, or off stage, and looked really pissed off. I was a bit shocked at the time because I felt like I was in the company of a couple who were arguing in front of their friends in a crowded restaurant, very uncomfortable.

But then again, maybe the sound engineer isn't doing his/her job. I know when I heard Ed solo I was truly blown away by his voice. And that's a fair number of years after I saw him with Live

I heard the one the band will use on tour is much better than the one they used on NYE(they used a local guy for a local show). Sounds like sour grapes to me, because he won't be moving on with the band.

Also, I didn't notice Ed complaining on stage once about the sound during the set on NYE.

I am sure Ed sent a cookie bouquet to the sound guy as a thank you for being horrible. Ed is such a humble guy.

A lot of bands try to cheap out on a sound engineer, and it ends up costing them in concert. I'm glad that Live is going to a good one for their tour.

Regardless of Ed's attitude or whether it specifically affected his performance, the simple fact is anyone with ears can tell you the sound guy did a terrible job on the webcast. Nothing was mixed right for the majority of the show.

I think it's fair to say that all 4 of them are perfectionists and particular about their craft. They once operated at a very high and large-scale level and they have played big important shows in their past and became accustomed to expecting a high level performance from themselves and their crew. I have seen pre-show preparations and it is a professional operation. And I have had discussions after shows with members of the band and when there are aspects of the sound and stage that are not up to their standards, and it bothers them and can throw them off. I've seen more than just Ed pissed about sound or stage set up. Their work ethic and expectations are there because they want to put on the best show for the fans. I have always thought that is why they often let a long time elapse after an opening act. I've seen them on a tiny stage in bar on multiple occasions, and they have the mics and instruments and duct tape and lighting and everything set and tweeked and tested. The right brand of water and the right number of towels in just the right places on the stage. Matt Gracey and the crew make sure they have the same quality set-up regardless of whether that are playing for 700 or 40,000. So yeah, if Ed is getting bad sound in his monitor or the mix isn't good, they get irked.

Well, it got your attention. Also, some folks have issues with Ed's character (not me so much), so this topic is not as much of a waste of time as you may think. What if this guy is telling the truth and this really happened and he really feels this way?

We HOPE they're getting a good one.
Yeah, all bands do this.
I think they do it a lot because it's easier for them than it is to
blame another member or whatever.
Hey, gotta blame someone right? They just Need a lot of practice.
It has been like 8 years after all. bounce.gif
