That's about what they were averaging with Shinn. I think they played 30-something shows in 2013, but I think in their other years touring with him they never played more than 20.

As much as I want them to do a huge, 70 show tour or something, I'm going to bet on 30-40 shows including festivals. Like I said, they did 30-something with Shinn in 13 and I think Ed tends to average about 30 solo shows a year.

I think a bigger tour could follow an album. This seems like more of a recalibration.

I bet the return of the original line-up is a bigger promotion to tour than a new album.

bounce.gif YES!!!! My point, too! And they need to get on it. They've been silent for 2 weeks, when they need to be capitalizing on it. Even Ed is still weirdly quiet. Promote the hell out of a reunion and TOUR. Are they putting their time into Zoe whatever-her-name-is instead? facepalm.gif

Also, I know a lot of you don't like the "n-word," but since they did not drop a new song 12/12 or NYE, face it, their reunion is nostalgia. As much as I'd prefer to see them by themselves in a smaller venue, they could do a 90's rock band/nostalgia tour with 2 or 3 other bands (suggestions?). Then drop a new album & tour again. Live would be top of the world again.

A bigger promotion to tour right now, yeah. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a smaller run with festivals and a bunch of hype to get the word out. After that, an album, then a big tour possibly supporting another act where they continue to promote their reunion.

Edit: Voodoo Lady, I missed your second post, sorry! I could see them supporting Foo Fighters and having a great result.

No probs. While the Foo Fighters and Live would be a good show, because Live has never gotten the respect they deserve, I hate to see them not headline. I'm throwing out these suggestions... Just some 90's peeps on my iPod:
Opening--Seven Mary Three, The Toadies (don't know what they are up to lately, but c'mon, they played a little bitty club here a few years back), and/or Alanis Morissette w/ Live headlining.

If they would tour like that RIGHT NOW-- thumbsup.gif

I could see a Live and Bush touring doing pretty well.

I've seen Bush each of the past two years. They sold out a 2,000 seat venue with no notable opener. They don't need Live.

My hope would be that Live would bring a lower tier 90s opener with them that has enough of their own fan base to bring out a few more fans and appeal to more of the masses, but aren't big enough to co-headline or make Live shorten their set list. A band like Tonic or Toad the Wet Sprocket would be good.

They could co-headline with a band like Everclear, who they're buds with and is planning a 20th anniversary of So Much For The Afterglow tour, but that would mean Live's set list would be 10-12 songs at most. I want them to play 15-18.

I think that Live could tour 1000-2000 seat venues solo and fill them solo, but I could see a co-headlining summer tour with Bush in 5000 seats outdoor venues doing pretty well.

Live with its original line-up doesn't need to co-headline with Everclear. Everclear and Tonic can open for Live if they would like. I saw Toad the Wet Sprocket in concert, and found them very dull.

They have done this before. I forget what it was, but they made some big announcement then went silent for weeks and weeks.

They lost any buzz they had generated. Zero awareness when it comes to things like this.

When you get in front, you work your ass off to stay in front. Live gets in front then is like "Okay, well, great job everybody. Let's get back together in a month." They lose any momentum they generated.

They are the absolute worst at social media. The biggest, fastest, most followed way of marketing (it's also free, btw) and they SUCK at it.

Again, horrible decision making. I mean, just awful. Bad management.

The WD Twitter feed and YouTube account was 100x more active than the damn bands.

Live should just play the hits at festivals. Even if they have a new album the set-list will be 99% hits.

The business decision of a reunion tells you all you need to know. CCP tossed their artistic integrity into the trash so they could have the "bald lead singer" back and could make a little more money.

Ed was probably doing fine solo but he always wanted that Live brand.

They deserve each other.

some timeline for you wondering dreamers smile.gif

the lines of communication opened up with Ed back in Late Summer of 2015, as October approached, much more communication was happening between Ed, Chris Hardin and members of Live's inner circle. Ed and Chad and others began text messaging more as the fall of 2015 approached.

In the past, there were some attempts in 2013 at reconciliation with Ed but that wasn't happening or coming to fruition. Wounds still fresh, contracts signed with Shinn, Summerland 2013, etc.

On the current state with Chris, they had several concerts planned in the fall of 2015, internally it was decided to end the band with Shinn and go into an unannounced hiatus period. This was decided before the Australia shows were played with Live supporting Def Leppard (contractually binding) The Aussie shows were the last shows officially with Chris, although unspoken.

During the winter months of 2016, The boys began getting together in York after initial meetings with CT and their inner circle (this was post Australia tour I believe). When all of them got together; They went to their old places of hang out, rehearsal and where they grew up together. They began the healing before playing music. When they started practicing the old songs, they felt into the groove again and felt the old feelings of when they started.

In May of 2016, Kevin Martin of CB let it slip on stage at a show in Bethlehem PA as he gave thanks to the guys in Live (some in attendance) about them recording CB's new record at Think Loud Studios, in the thanks he included Ed.

During the winter (Jan/Feb), they began working on new songs together, all contributing actual songs, lyrics and musical progressions. Those songs are diverse and different, with old Live sound, and some new Live sound. But most certainly has the 'hook you' in LIVE feel. The work on them continues to the current. Could be an EP, a single release this year, or album release next year, no firm decision, but as Live goes it will be done the way they decide as a band, usually in conflict of how others think they should do things smile.gif

So as fans come together, or pull apart, some will stay and some will go for their own personal reasons. Have some hope that the music will speak to you in some way in these crazy times.

Awesome, can't wait, and feel free to post more. Very insightful stuff that all of us +Live+ fans want to hear. thumbsup.gif

**Also, isn't Grand Falloons where Ed used to "bust suds" (wash dishes) back in the day?

I'm going to make it about the music. Hopefully, they can turn out some new tunes with that collaborative feel of TGF and The Turn. If the music sucks it will be easy for me to pin it on Ed and I'll go about my way.

I definitely won't go to a show until they mix up the setlist like they did with Shinn. No need to see the hits over and over. Works for the festivals, but not for the long time fans that have seen a lot of shows.

Best of luck!
