We Open The Door. The very first song I heard off The Turn, a long time before the album dropped (acoustic) and still think it's the closest to what makes LIVE LIVE for me.

I'm surprised He Could Teach The Devil Tricks doesn't get more love. Belting track imo.

This one just misses a little something at the end...some more guitar work or drum I don't know. Still a good track on which Shinn sounds good.

I like the He Could Teach ending. After Siren's Call, easily the second best track on the album IMO

I consider The Turn to be Secret Samadhi's kid brother in a way, and songs like Sirens Call and HCTTDT are a big part of why.

I can see that. It's also why I think Ed would do a better job on Shinn songs than Shinn did on Ed songs.

Not that we will (or should) find out.

Not current Ed, current Ed can't even do Ed songs justice.

But yeah it is definitely semi-related to SS. Especially in the sense that the bones of what became Sirens Call was something of a left over from a guitar piece that CT was working on in the SS era. So we definitely know SS was in their minds writing that one and naturally would flow into other songs.

But I feel there are definite connections to other eras on the album. There is something on DRTW which taps TC, same with HCTTDT which is like a TC/SS combo. TWAIT and WOTD are closest to tapping into a TDTH sound, maybe more a TDTH-BOP hybrid for TWAIT. And Strength to hold on and When you came around have a very Shinn solo/EIE feel to them respectively.

We've yet to see what current Ed will bring. Most Recent Ed, I'd agree. The question for me is not only CAN he bring it anymore, but if he can, will he?

Only time will tell.

True, but it's very hard to ignore 15 years of poor form leading up to it. See to me the question is actually more can he. He might try hard to sound like his old self, especially if he thinks that'll lead to more money, but I just don't know if he can. He's more time in his career being the way he is now than being that bright spark he was between 91 - 99. If he does, it'll be one of the more remarkable things/turn arounds ive seen in music.

Or "The U Turn", since they are headed back where they started.

Nope. I liked it too. Became a family anthem since the kids loved it. I do understand people who don't like it... generic a bit and weak solo.
