Alive, The Garden, The Flood and the Mercy... and I guess wherever Dirty Water, Lotus Flower ended up. Ignoring all the stuff about whether or not Ed's solo stuff is terrible relative to Live, and yadda yadda you know the drill, we've done it all before...

What's your favourite Ed track amongst his solo releases?

I've said several times before that I dig Grace and Zion. And if I had to pick one I'd probably go for the latter. Zion is my favourite Ed track. And I think one that would have been on Live's aborted album before all the things and stuff happened.

Zion hands down. There isn't even a second.

Zion weirdly taps into a type of worship song that I sort of like. I'm definitely not against the idea of singing about God/Heaven or anything religious. Plenty of singers do it so well, Nick Cave and Tom Waits for example. Most of Ed's singing about religious stuff (as opposed to earlier when he was influenced by ideas within religions and spirituality, rather than just outright God stuff) is awful and its like being beaten up by a bible salesman. But Zion manages to get around that. But its more the tune and melody of the song I like. It sounds like a work song. Especially the humming intro ... it makes me think of a chain gang, or even an old black chain gang work song that you could imagine being hummed to pass the painful work time. It isn't that far removed from stuff from the Blind Willie Johnson (from God Don't Ever Change fame) era.

Zion is the only listenable song by Ed

I liked Grace better than Zion, which would be second. These 2 songs got all the production budget, because almost everything else is hard to listen to. Very generic and uninspired, with the same musical patterns that are repeated. That album really showed limitations in not only his lyrical inspiration, but also his musical skills as well.

Off the top of my head, I can only tell you two memorable Ed K. songs. One I liked--and that was Grace. After wasting my money on the album Grace was on, I never paid attention to any more of his solo stuff until I decided to click on Seven on You Tube one day. I still wish I hadn't ..."seven this, seven that, seven gallooowws" AGH! I think it's the worst song I've ever heard, and the video was flat out creepy. Ever have a song that just irritates you? For me, most irritating was I Shot the Sheriff. Now it's that one.

Oops, sorry if I wasn't supposed to complain.

Favorite Song from Ed, Fire on the Mountain. I can listen to that one over and over.

Bottle of Anything is also good.

Bottle of Anything has always struck me as a terrible lyric and song title.

I know we mock you for it, man. But just say water. You know you want to.

To be completely honest, Dirty Water, Lotus Flower. At the very least, it makes me laugh, which I suppose is a positive emotion.

When I first saw he had a song called Holy Water Tears I assumed it would be his greatest song because he was finally so far gone that he was self satirising

Zion was prob his best track from his solo albums. Drive had a great sound but the lyrics were not that great. I was also a big fan of Soul Whipsers off his first album. I used to listen to that song over and over. Only song I really liked off his second album was Holy Water Tears. I did like a couple songs off his EP The Garden especially Solar Flare. That song had a very catchy sound!

My top 5:

Zion
Soul Whispers
Solar Flare
Holy Water Tears
Stand

I don't really have a favorite, as none really stand up above the rest, but here are the ones I like:

The Great Beyond
Grace
In Your Light
I'm the Proof
The One
Seven
Angeles on a Razor
Parasite (Just because it was the first time Ed ever really responded to the breakup).
