The lyrics by Shinn don't resonate with me at all, and if I see another slow motion Chad Taylor guitar solo video again in my lifetime it will be too soon.

This just proves the fact you are not a fan of Live and never have been.

Because I think Chris Shinn's lyrics are weak, and the slow motion guitar solos are lame?

You're in the minority Nikki. Especially here.

So the question begs: why are you here again?

I'm not saying all of Ed's lyrics were the best, but many of his song lyrics were extremely powerful, and that was a big reason for Live's success.

Are any of you truly moved by the lyrics of the four songs so far released from new Live?

Yes, both by SC and TWAIT...I haven't formed much of an opinion on WOTD or NBK yet because I tend to tune into the music a lot more at first.

I will be the first to say that Ed was...key word "was"...a great lyricist...but he lost his touch a long time ago. Some his stuff from TFATM is a little better than stuff he has written the past 15 years, but still no where near the years leading up to TDTH with LIVE.

I honestly feel TDTH is Ed's best work as a lyricist. I also think if all four members of Live reunited and released TWAIT as their first lead single in over 8 years it would be a total disappointment.

TDTH is very personal to me for many different reasons, so I agree that his lyrics were very strong on that album. Not sure if they were as strong as the first 3 albums, but great non the less.

When I heard that La da da da, for the first time, it was a complete disappointment for me as a diehard LIVE fan.

Oh man. I can't tell you how embarrassed I was when I heard The River for the first time. I was hoping for a nice comeback after V and BoP and that's what we were served up. The worst part of it all was I had a couple of friends who were casual Live fans sit in on this initial listen.

I would bet lots of money many other hardcore Live fans had this same disappointing, embarrassing and deep-scarring experience. I wouldn't wish this experience on the worst (Nikki included) out there.

These four songs are as far away from Classic Live as you can get.

facepalm.gif , just this...a shame... uhoh.gif

What about a song like Sweet release? They are a bit similar...slow start, pop chorus. So Sweet release would be a very good song but not Natural born Killer? NBK has way more instrumentation and twists than SW. I like SW also, but I give Nbk the edge for some weird chords despite the pop side of it.
