Ok, let me start by saying that i am a fan of the new Live with Chris Shinn. That being said, i think that message board is really kinda dull and bland compared to the way this board was. I think this board is way more objective and people are "allowed" to say what they feel about Live, be it negative or slightly negative. I think criticism is justified if it's constructive and makes sense, after all it is only opinions. I think on that board it's like one big, pardon my french: "ass-kissing session"! This of course is only my honest opinion and don't get me wrong there are alot of cool things about that site, like the band actually is a part of it and so on, so don't hate me i'm just sharing some thoughts.

I get what you're saying. There's no really great conversation there because everyone is basically on the same page. The sad reality is that there really isn't anything to argue over.

That being said, I don't think it means people should have cart-blanch' to be forum assholes which can be a problem here.

I honnestly think that you can critiscize what new Live is doing on WD. They just make it clear that we don't talk about Ed there, it is a Live 2.0 fan board. But we can still discuss the accomplishments of the past. But I for one am bored about talking about Live's decline around 2000-2001. It happened and we'll get a new record in 2014, so we are excited alot.

We were critic about their web site, their approach about how they promised things that didn't happen among other things. I also wrote about some songs not being well done at the Atlantic Show, no one threw me out. But we can be as positive as ever with what is to come this year.

I often lurk at WD.com, but i still miss the old days on this board.
Maybe it's time to get some fresh new members on FoL...

I agree bro, this site is set up better and its more open to random live fans, and i would love to get this site booming again!

WD is a mixed bag. On the plus side they will possibly have exclusive content and might covet news within the band. On the other hand, they can be so disturbed and obsessed, they'll comment that the huge Live fans over here on this board don't even like Live compared to them. Ironically they can't even name the last track on Throwing Copper. Direct quote from the splash page:

Aside from the misinformation of the whole paragraph, who capitalizes "Biggest" and "Internet," doesn't know the difference between it's and its, and manages to keep other various abhorrent grammar mistakes as the first thing you see on the official forum?

Ok so wow, I have an active account again here! This isn't going to be anything but a once off post.

Speaking on behalf of whitediscussion. Firstly, yes, things are pretty quiet around whitediscussion.com at the moment, as they are here. Things are pretty quiet in Live land in general at the moment, it's the calm before the storm of the album. Everyone will be pretty excited and/or angry on both boards soon enough.

I have to question what the point of making a post here is talking about how boring/bad the board is. Dan, this should not be in the "Live" section, it has no relevance to anything. Those here who do have access to the whitediscussion board should be absolutely able to testify that there is no bashing of fansoflive on WD.com, nor is there any more bashing of Ed. It's just over, we're done. We don't care anymore. So I'd expect this thread deleted in good faith because it serves no purpose other than to inflame.

Yes, the majority of people at WD.com feel the same way about a lot that happens in Live. It is one of the main reasons there was a split in boards in the first place. And I absolutely agree that there is such thing as healthy argument. I for one will not hold back over there for example if there is some of the new material that I don't like. I absolutely support Live as CCCP, but that does not mean that I support everything they do. Yes there are those over there who are part of the "inner sanctum" so to speak, they're the PA crew, they call guys in Live friends, they have their mobile phone numbers. Yes they're fanboys as such, just like there are here with the Ed crew. The difference being that any time anyone has "gone against the grain" or caused trouble there, there is no one individual who makes decisions on silencing people, or deleting posts, or anything like that. There is a mod area, and there are quite a few of us including plenty who are NOT in the inner sanctum that have a say in how things are handled. I for one have argued against people like OTD and others for people to be able to say what they want. We believe it's a democracy and we have had absolute minimal problems over there with it. We think that's healthy.

The only thing we ask is that people who sign up, support Live as CCCP. We don't care if you like Ed or not, we have Ed fans. We don't care if you like some of the new Live songs or you don't. Those things are absolutely up for debate. The only fundamental rule is that you are behind Live, some people there are behind Live in 100% of everything they do, some 90%, some 80 and so on. But they still agree with the core ideal that Live is CCCP. What we don't want is endless debate of "Live isn't Live without Ed", that just goes around and around in circles as we saw here. There are people here who we know absolutely do no support Live as CCCP, and that is why they are not welcome.

So yes, it is all pretty one way traffic over there at the moment, but no I don't expect it to stay like that. I look forward to plenty of healthy discussion about the new album and tour soon enough. What we don't appreciate is people coming over here and bashing the board, if you don't like it and think it's boring, that's fine, come here instead, but leave it at that. We are done with any kind of board vs board war and shit slinging match. So, yeah, Dan, I hope you'll take that into consideration when you realise this thread has no point other than to fan flames which do not need to be fanned.

This thread seems to give the wrong impression of how things are over on WD.com
So I will reiterate:

* There is no Ed bashing anymore.
* There is no fansoflive bashing.
* OTD does not rule the places with an iron fist, any modding decisions are voted on by a group which contains plenty of people who are not part of that inner CCP sanctum and we have had disagreements with each other in the mod section in the past.
* And if you don't like it there, that is perfectly fine, come back to FOL, just don't come back to FOL with an unwarranted grudge. I think everyone is sick to death of that now.

I think I'm being pretty level headed and reasonable about this. I am not posting here to fight or start wars again.

I don't see how anybody is giving the wrong impression of WD in this thread, or see any inappropriateness here worth closing the thread. These points Pokey makes comes out of left field because nobody is questioning any bashing (even though the mods post here to bash this place plenty), or whether it is run by one person, nor do I see how this thread is meant to be inflammatory. One guy is bored, others don't believe in the exclusivity of debates, and I think the splash page is false, poorly written, and makes the band look bad. They're criticisms and opinions of Live's official message board, and that's totally acceptable.

I have seen FOL Bashing on there recently bro. I am not going to elaborate, i just know what i like and what i don't like. I just hope this site gets going good again, and the multimedia section here is just too awesome. Nothing personal Pokey, go and enjoy WD, its your life bro, no hard feelings.

Yeah, my post was in no way a smear campaign for WD, i just stated my views on it. This thread isn't gonna make WD lose anybody hopefuly, that would be really sad and just odd. I personally prefer this site and i am not a big fan of some of the posters over there either, and i won't name names.

You have seen fol bashing recently but won't elaborate? I really don't think you can elaborate because you can't elaborate. There just hasn't been any fol bashing for months and months. I think people are over it. It's fine if you prefer FOL, more power to you. No one is taking that personally. But at the same time, you absolutely can not honestly say that you have seen a thread in the Live section on WD (or anywhere) detailing why people don't like the opposite message board like you just made here.

Either way, your opinion is fine, but I don't see the need to make it into it's own anti-wd.com thread in here. Unwarranted. However innocent you may think it is, it still feels like you're clamouring for some kind of argument or you'd have said nothing. Case in point you prefer the fighting on FOL to the quiet.

As for Bremang, don't even start, man. My response isn't just levelled at what TC said, but another too and nipping stuff in the bud before it takes off. If people are going to talk about our message board, publicly with incorrect facts then we should be able to set the record straight. Those are some common misconceptions about WD.com I was clearing up. I specifically addressed the exclusivity of debates. Sorry if it upset you so much. Yes there was a mistake on the flash page, again sorry that upset you so much. I do find it amusing you think that it makes the band look bad yet you're posting on a website called fansoflive, the misnomer being hilarious. Nothing makes the band look worse than a fan site that isn't a fan site. But we won't go into that. Thank you for pointing it out, we'll fix it up
