Luscious Jackson and Fun Lovin' Criminals were billed as openers for a number of US shows in 1997.

I'm 100% positive I saw FLC on the SS tour at the State Theater.

QUOTE
Ed Kowalczyk calls local radio station in 1997
By LISA WISEMAN
Daily Record/Sunday News

York, PA - Originally published June 14, 1997

Live's lead singer Ed Kowalczyk took advantage of a break in his touring schedule Friday afternoon to call disc jockey Michelle Cruz on WQXA-FM (105.7), The Edge.

Kowalczyk, along with fellow band members Chad Gracey, Chad Taylor and Patrick Dahlheimer, are back in central Pennsylvania after completing their European tour.

The band will be back on the road next month to begin a stadium tour in the United States. The tour officially kicks off July 25 with a show at the Hersheypark Stadium.

There were two reasons to perform in Hershey, Kowalczyk told Cruz. "Because it was so damn fun in 1995," and "it's important for us to start off close to home."

The band members all are graduates of William Penn High School. Now that the band has enjoyed some success, Live has some say about how its tours are run and managed.

It was Kowalczyk's idea to have Luscious Jackson and Fun Lovin' Criminals as opening acts.

"We wanted to surround ourselves with people who were a lot of fun," he said.

It was also the band's idea to set the ticket price for the Hersheypark show at $20, the lowest ticket price on the tour.

"We sat down about a month ago and just decided that we wanted to charge less, because of after you add all the surcharges and parking and everything, it gets to be really expensive," Kowalczyk said. "We remember when we were younger and wanted to see shows and it was too expensive to see more than one show a summer."

Tickets for the Herseypark show go on sale at the stadium today. Since it was a "Double Edge Weekend" on the radio station - DJs play two songs from the same band in a row - Cruz asked Kowalczyk to choose two songs.

He picked "Ghost" from the band's new album, "Secret Samadhi," and "TBD" from "Throwing Copper." "That should help people kick out their afternoon," Kowalczyk said.

It was ManBREAK.

In fact, you can substitute ManBREAK for any reference to Fun Lovin Criminals on that tour. Something to do with losing tour support funding for FLC, though I only heard that second hand. And that meant that the scouse munchkins were in the right place at the right time.....

I went to a couple of these. I actually have 1 or 2 recorded on VHS. I love JCS. They just had their 20 year reunion show. I had some fun times with them and the live boys back then. Good memories.
