this is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Johnny Mathis does it best. It is out of Ed's range, but I think he handled it pretty well. There are some high notes he simply can't get without sounding horrible, so I'm glad he didn't try.
It is heads and tails better than Silent Night was. But Ed is no Johnny Mathis.
I think the worst part is the organ, which I believe to be a GarageBand organ, and not a real one with actual pipes. The background vocals at the end were nice, probably could've come in earlier. The guitar also could've been more up front. This probably would've been better without the lofty organ at all.
Anyway, not bad, vocally. He sang it the way it's usually sung, sans a few high notes. Still not the best version.

I played it longer before (trying to get my daughter to go to bed and it worked lol.gif ) and what's with the new voice effect?

yeah, on first listen I was so distracted by the fake organ - he is addicted to GarageBand instruments and autotuning his voice.

Wow - guy can't even go right here by quickly recording a Christmas song and giving it away to fanclub members to spread some Christmas cheer. surrender.gif

Anybody have an MP3 version of the song?

Ya, that sounds way better. Would still appreciate an MP3 of Ed's version though.

I'm happy we are getting acoustic studio versions of The Garden and I'm the Proof as well. Those songs are awesome on the acoustic tour.

It's cringe worthy. I write this as I'm listening to this abortion of a song, it's like EK raped Christmas.

The guy needs to know when enough is enough. Strip away the stupid echo, strip away the horrible voice shit. Just sing the fucking song with your own voice. Stop trying to be what you most certainly are not.

Definitely agree with those who say it's better than his version of Silent Night. That was a whole other level of madness. At least this has been done as the whole song / doesn't have his acid tinged grin. Also, if he literally threw it together just because a fan asked then that's pretty cool to be honest. I mean, I still think it's embarrassing, but doing it on a whim after a fan asked is decent.

Hm...That's a good move from Ed to gave those songs. Always liked Ed's acoustic stuff.

On second listen I really like the song. It has a nice build to it and is a good rendition of the song. I can't wait to hear the acoustic versions later tonight.
