QUOTE(sellingthdrama @ Nov 20 2012, 9:25 am) *

When Ed is solo (including SFBM), the music is far too unbalanced. I like a good cocktail but if it's all syrup and no alcohol, it'll make me puke. Ed needs to be part of a mixed drink, he's not a stand-alone beverage.

I don't get the appeal of these songs to long time Live fans. Why would you want to hear Ed this way? Why would you want to hear him perform Live classics along side these in his Christian Pop Rock way these days. As a way of preserving my memory and ongoing enjoyment of Live's glory days, I can not have anything to do with Ed anymore. That's purely in a musical sense and has nothing to do with any of the BS that went down. Personally, I don't like this kind of music by anyone. About the only thing positive I can say is that Ed's voice is OK I guess. It's really hard for me to come up with anything else good to say. If you like it great. It's so different from Live it's hard to imagine any association with them at all. No wonder they want to put a stop to him using the name.

That's true, besides the voice, the music and songs themselves are just so utterly different to what so many of fell in love with Live for, there is just nothing remotely Live-like about them in any way, and Nick has proven again and again all he can hear in a song is a voice, so to him this must sound perfect next to TBD I guess. But this is just NOT the sort of music that drew so many of us in to Live to begin with, so it's no wonder so many people hate it. The ones who loved latter Live stuff are the ones that like this, not the die hards who were singing along to Unsheathed.
That's why Live without Ed, yes it's going to sound different because there's a different voice, but songs are about so much more than that, and if what they say is true, and they are making music that is along the same lines as what made me fall in love with Live to begin with, then that's what I want. Not this, this isn't close to Live, but the sad thing is that Ed is trying to turn Live's memory into this shit; performing Live songs in the same vein as this stuff, associating his marketing with Live etc...
I mean imagine of Ed Kowalczyk circa 1991 was sitting there writing the lyrics to 10,000years and Eddie K walked into the room and suggested "hey man, how about this - nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah" Ed would have punched Eddie out.

the last 2 posts sum up alot of my thought...great posts.

I will always give him a listen (but not to the remixes for me they must be lazy fillers) because his voice still sounds good...even better than in some of post TDTH releases. It is hard to wish him the best though because of the way he treated his ex-bandmates. But I try, I did try. Liked 3-4 songs from Alive and don't hate the first song that he released in this EP. I'm the proof is ok as well, but the lyrics are SO bad. Lazy at best. So I can't send him my money.

Excited to hear it live? Cool, that's fine. Some of his best work ever?

Never. Never ever. Not in a million years. That notion is, in all possible ways, completely factually incorrect. They say opinions can't be wrong... well, they can. Evidence above.

Politicians will say or lie about anything to get a vote. Or in this case, someone to be stupid enough to buy an Ed album.

I have now listened to The Garden. I wasn't going to, but the curiosity got the best of me. I thought there was no way that it could be as laughable and cringe-worthy as some people have said. I thought there must be some exaggeration going on here.

But I just don't know what to say about it. There is no way that anyone associated with that mess should be proud. I am actually glad that Ed released that. I have no idea what is wrong with Ed. But whatever it is, this underscores, highlights and posts a neon sign around what is wrong with Ed. This album is so bad it doesn't even seem like a legitimate album. It is like one of those fake commercials on Saturday Night Live that is made to look like a real commercial, but it is just funny. This is so bad, that it is funny. Ten seconds into the first song I hear "Oh I know, dirty water's easier to find, in the desert when you're thirsty". I literally peed a little bit in my pants from laughing. The Rise Remix starts with "Ohhh! Ed Kowalczyk!" omg.gif The music and drums on Mind Games is like some canned background music you could find in Garage Band on a Mac. Where is the inspiration and artistry? Make the song your own with some sort of creativity. That is a complete piece of sh*t. And he has the nerve to make fun of Chad Gracey?!?! You've got to be kidding me! This is just shameful. I agree, it is no wonder CCP doesn't want him associated with the name Live. Talk about diluting the brand! The Garden is Exhibit A.

Where is the bottom for The Eddie K.? When does this guy hit bottom for Pete's sake? In the same week, he is bilking the fans for "limited edition" lyric sheets for $50 a pop, and releasing this laughing-stock as an album. This is lower than I could have ever imagined in 2009.

P.S. I know that I said that I wouldn't waste my time listening to this album at all. But I did. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite. But I just had to see what all the fuss is about. The folks over at WhiteDiscussion are having a field day with this. And I must say, I am glad I listened to it. The entertainment value was more than I could have wished for. But not for the reasons Ed must have been hoping for. It was so bad that it is entertaining. I recommend that everyone listen to this album. The whole world should become aware of what Ed is doing. It speaks for itself.

I saw those lyric sheets today on his site. Okay, if you're selling the a copy of the ORIGINAL lyric sheet, for say, 5 or 10 bucks - fine, that's a cool keepsake.

But unless he wrote the song perfectly the first time and never made a lyric change (go see the sheets), all this looks like is someone writing out the lyrics on a piece of paper (not necessarily Ed) and charging 50 bucks for it. 50 BUCKS?!?! I've never written in all caps on this forum, but c'mon - 50 BUCKS?!? For handwriting on paper?

I figured someone had to actually be honest to Ed about this EP:

Side note: I wonder how long it'll take for Nick to delete my honest post.

I can't get over the remixes...

instead of giving a constructive answer to this fan.... delete and move on is easier.
