Oh, Ed's wine is for sale. $50 a bottle. Because there's a limited quantity I assume.

Wow. Typical Ed.Taking a $1.99 bottle of wine, sticking his name on it and ripping people off. Reminds me of why I hate this guy now.

Is he joining in?

Or checking it out?

I don't think he's joining in. Adam just posted on Twitter that he's there watching.

York, PA -

The trio sat in the front row of the Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center.

Jen Peckally came from Philadelphia, Shelley Merz from Chicago and Axelle Quétier from France.

Yes, France.

The group met with several others to see York native Ed Kowalczyk perform Friday night in front of more than 800 fans.

The trio had not met in person, but are members of the Ed Kowalczyk Street Team on Facebook.

"We know each other through Ed," Quétier said.

Each has seen the former Live frontman in concert before.

This was the first time they saw him in his hometown.

"It's bigger than I thought it would be," Mertz said.

They checked out the downtown area Friday before heading to the show.

The trio talked about William Penn Senior High School, Kowalczyk's alma mater.

"Is there a marker there," Peckally asked.

Kowalczyk mentioned the school before playing "The Beauty of Gray."

"It's amazing, I still like to sing this song," Kowalczyk told the crowd, explaining that he wrote it when he was 19.

Back then, Kowalczyk was fronting Live, which had several hits in the 1990s and 2000s. Since then, he's released a solo album and is about to introduce a new EP.

He sang songs from those endeavors, as well as some of the hits from his days in Live. He started his set with, "Selling the Drama."

Kowalczyk's former bandmates, Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Gracey, continue to perform as Live with new lead singer Chris Shinn. They've also been involved with economic redevelopment in York.

Kingsfoil, another band with York County roots opened Friday's show.

Two members of the band, Jordan Davis and Tristan Martin, are from York County. Bandmate Tim Warren is from Dauphin County. The group made news nationwide when former "Malcolm in the Middle" star Frankie Muniz joined it earlier this year

Davis talked about the band's recent five-week tour.

"It's going good," he said. "I feel better about the band than I ever have."

He explained Muniz was home in Phoenix for a brief break and wasn't attending Friday's show, but the band will be back in its entirety for a Dec. 29 show at The Chameleon Club in Lancaster.

Davis was excited to take the same stage as Kowalczyk.

"I have (the Live album) 'Throwing Copper' on cassette, and listen to it all the time," he said. "Hopefully we can win over some of their fans. ... Our music could be similar to Ed's."

Shortly before Kowalczyk took the stage, Peckally, Mertz and Quétier said they enjoyed Kingsfoil's set.

Much like the rest of the trip, they found some unexpected charms in York.

"Market Street was adorable," Peckally said.

I will try tomorrow to upload videos. He didn't play as many solo songs as I wanted. and he used the funky weird Mic one too many times. otherwise I was very pleased. his voice sounds great. there is clearly a reverb thing being done to his voice in some songs (it was most noticible in Drink) which I don't love, but he used his lower end a lot. what I call his big boy voice. my friend was very entertained, as was I. Jen Lowe did a fine job as far as I'm concerned. Ed explained that be found her on YouTube and she was a fan so she agreed to join him. I don't know if we'be heard that story here before.
And when he introduced World Vision he had 5 child profiles and invited people to come up to the stage to sponsor them. 3 or 4 of them were taken (it was really dark when he stepped to the front of the stage so I don't know for sure if a fourth was taken).
Chris Herlein was there playing bass, which was ok. I would've preferred just Jen Lowe I think.
But the acoustic show was really really great. and not just because its 400 times better than the full band. a few songs had a different vibe than they have when I've seen them before. The Distance comes to mind. I'll get the videos up ASAP tomorrow so you can see what I mean (or not - maybe I'm just a weirdo)
He mentioned during the show that his mom was there but he didn't mention Adam, who I would assume was sitting with their mom. But I have no idea.
He signed autographs and took pictures after the show. he wasn't in a hurry and he spoke for a while with most people. I've met him a couple times and he remembered me which is always nice.
I have to get to bed.
goodnight all smile.gif

So this "I Alone" solo tour isn't really Ed alone. Shocker. Just another attempt to tether himself to the name of Live.

Actually, most times on this tour he IS alone...He was when i saw him and many others as well on the tour.
York was special and he has lots of friends there so if some of you actually read the reviews
you might see that a lot of friends were there and he asked kings foil to join him along with jen.
I think it' s great that he gives them a chance to show their talents. Kudos to him.

I love how the whole world vision thing is going. God bless him for helping those children....more bands should do that.
Some of you just have your hearts hellbent on bashing the shit out of the man that you fail to see the good in him. Because he does have "GOOD" in him no matter what some may think. To me, it's kind of an electric/acoustic shows. lol.
To me when i hear acoustic i see acoustic guitars..no electric at all but it still awesome just the same.

Great review DQ. Thanks hi.gif
