11 people are wrong! All I Hear is a great closer too. Once it gets going it's a great way to end the album.

Wow..thats more than a album!!!!!

There is no reason that TGF can't release an EP and play some spot shows here and there(especially in the northeast US where they have a decent fanbase). It would make a lot of fans happy.

I personally think that if they had really persevered with TGF and toured like crazy and did as much promotion as they could, leveraging their pedigree in Live and Candlebox, that TGF could have really become big. That debut album was downright fantastic. They deserve notariety just on quality alone. I know so many musicians and music lovers who absolutely love that album. It had a unique and special sound. It was amazing how they captured the classic 70's rock sound on that album. It is just conjecture, but peersonally, I think that TGF done properly would have had a better chance at success than Live 2.0 or Candlebox right now. Unfortunately, Candleboxx has a "past tense" connotation attached to it, and Live is really going to attract more of the 90's Live fans who still willing to give a listen rather than getting any new attention. TGF was unique and different enough, and new brand, that it might have turned a few more heads in the public eye.

Agreed. It's by FAR the best thing anybody from Live has produced his TGF. No contest whatsoever, no arguments concerning tastes or subjectivity. It's the best by a million miles.

Great post fish....TGF needed more support, but the quality was there. At least 9 of the songs really had a potential in different radio format. With good promotion, marketing and extended touring, all was possible. Fish's post sums it up.

I don't think that music in that hard rock genre gets much radio airplay anyway. Unfortunately I think hard rock is pretty much dead when it comes to album sales and airplay. But I do think that they can be popular with rock fans and on tour. I disagree with you about a lack of songs. I think Honest Man and Appetite were good choices for the rock genre.

There is where you and I differ. I do not think that TGF should have compromised their musical creativity to try and craft a song that they think would get more radio airplay. I think it is an incredible expression of their creative talent. There is a fundamental difference between writing records to make money and sell copies and writing music as a creative artist. Frankly, that is one of the fundamental bases of your arguments with everyone here because I don't think that you appreciate that.

My only criticism of TGF from the beginning is that I think Kevin try to cram too many lyrics that are a little too complicated into those songs. In my opinion, there were too many words and too many thoughts and too much vocabulary jammed into the songs. I think it would be better if the lyrics were more simplistic or at least a little less like War and Peace. I like the vocals and I like what is going on with the lyrics but I think that it just went a little too far. That being said, I would have to be looking for things to criticize in saying that. Overall I think it is one of the best albums of all time!

Yep, LOVE IT!!!

It's a shame the rock format is so dead. It's pretty much like the alternative format. It too has succumbed to the pop formula. TGF did a great job making a classic rock record without sounding dated. I think of a band like Pink Floyd. Obviously pop had no place in their world. It didn't in most rock music of that era. I don't think it's that there is no audience. It's just that those fans are no longer the target. Radio has abandoned those fans and what is left are mainly pop music fans. No offense to Nickleback or Daughtry but that is about as rock as GaGa. Appetite showed that there is still some appreciation on radio for great rock music but it's just not strong enough to make much of a dent in what's left of the watered down format. Perhaps TGF saw the challenge and decided to back off a bit with their ambition. I wouldn't blame them one bit. Doesn't mean they still can't make great music and do things their way. Most bands that fit outside of the pop format have to do that nowadays.

This is on the money, for me. I would think less of the record if they'd written one song that stuck out as a HEY RADIO - PLEASE PLAY ME track.
