We've had this argument before Pokey and I'm 100% sure the guys out numbered the women considerably at the LIVE concert I went to as well as the 2 Ed shows. Most of the women seemed to be tagging along with their (bald) guys.

And if you think it's happening (as above) at Ed's shows, I damn sure it's gonna happen with future LIVE shows.

And WTF is the definition of a house wife?!

Bald guys.... hey i'm one of them facepalm.gif

lol.gif Bald is good - not saying it isn't good...just trying to get a point across to young Pokey. I think those middle aged housewives were tagging along with the real fans - their hubs!

Really Jayda? The EK solo show I went to here was vastly more girls to guys I'd say, not quite an Oprah audience, but getting there!

There's nothing "wrong" with it or anything, I just find it funny how its promoted as a rock show and this guy who is a rock star attracts mostly middle aged women wanting a boogie on a girls night out. I'm sure Live will have mostly that age demographic too, but if they actually bring the rock like they used to they might either bring back a lot of fans that were lost or newer ones looking for good rock. EK seems to attract the fans that listen exclusively to 101.1 Gold FM where they literally have the motto "we won't play a song that you don't know!" which is ironic since Triple M snatched him and Live up, but Triple M is just the modern version if Gold FM.

But you know the type, the "crazy girls!" who get pissed on 3 glasses of cheap wine and are loud and obnoxious still thinking they're 20, having a huge late night by not getting home till 11:30pm!! But before that they're out to rip up the town to some EK! There were a lot of them at the Ed show, and I can't say it's exactly my crowd. EK gives then something identifiable to their youth without being too crazy or wild, he's very safe. He's the rocker for people who like to think they're rocking out hard, but they're really hoodwinked by pop rock.

Sometimes you guys put it in a derogatory way.

And remember I told you about my sister's fucked off his face boyfriend that was there that night (Ed's first solo)? He attracted way more attention than any woman. Even Ed gave him a few nervous side looks.

Guess Pokey's looking at the chicks and I'm looking at the guys lol.gif

Still say there were more middle aged guys at these shows.... tongue.gif

hey pokey.. just had a discussion with the better half ( her memory is shit loads better than mine). We went to the ed acoustic show in melbourne... that was before his Alive shit.. Wifey recalls the audience being generally alot younger than us. We 40/43 yo then. younger couples both sides of us... we sat in the seats at the front of the forum. audience was 50/50 male/ female too... just my memory.. I never listen to commercial radio in aus .. its all shit!!

Really? I'm not sure what show you guys were at tongue.gif I'm not saying there were no guys but def were more girls and the older type too, being a single mid 20s guy like myself you always keep your eyes peeled! But the EK show def had less younger people, but you'd expect that (younger I mean say less than 25).

It's not really derogatory if it's just describing the way people are, you just look closer and see that type of people. I noticed here the girls of say 30+ seem to get quite defensive on stuff like this, for the record I don't think anyone here is lumping you in with the people we're talking about, you're mega fans through thick and thin, you're like the exception to the rule. The ones that are mostly talked about here are the ones that come for LC and haven't got a clue what this song called "the distance" is (must be a new one!)
As a casual fan base, Ed seems to attract that middle aged woman demographic quite well, the music is safe and pretends to rock out, but doesn't really, just what they want!

couple of things:

1. I am the Proof is pretty bad, wow...really sad to think this is what become of Ed...I will still go to the shows but the last 2 cd's and this have been garbage...he really has lost it

2. Dont know why people make an issue about the domographics at ED's shows...Live was popular in the 1990's, ed was the lead singer of live, makes sense that people who are the shows now are fans from back then...seems like common sense to me yet people always bring this up

Age isn't the main part of it, like you said that is expected. It's the type of people you see come to the shows, they're not bad people, it's not putting them down, but an indication of where Ed is at by the fact so many that fell in love with Live for being a rock band have dropped off and now we just got the ladies who cheered like crazy when he took his shirt off left. There's the minority like some of the girls that post here are different, they're long time deeply invested fans. But if I were to go to an EK show now I have a feeling I'd feel very out of place. The girls that cheer shirtless Ed and the Nick's seem to be left, the ones that always worshipped Ed and could never really appreciate the rest of the band and don't care who he shares the stage with.

I always felt that those that idolize Ed, are coming from the crazy center of the human response. I've seen this at shows, people I know from attending shows, hearing what about Ed makes them all squishy. Ive followed these boards a long time and have pretty much read enough to know what's what.

But that age group is more of the late 30 to 40 crowd, due to the fact that Live was very popular in the 90's and a majority of the fans at that time were 20's-30's

Yea, I'd be shocked if the average age of Live fans was not 35 and over. I know there are younger fans out there, but I'm guessing they are in the minority. All this talk about age is depressing me...
