QUOTE(OutToDry @ Feb 14 2012, 10:35 pm) *

hope the cb shows were great.

I placed this on page 2

Funny, how I instantaneously liked the older ones first. I figured that's the way it was going to wind up. The other tracks are growing on me, except for 2 or 3 are just ok....and Tattoo I still hate!

P.S. CB show was great!! Could've been about 30 degrees warmer in Miami, but it was fun anyway!!

There are about 10 older tracks from the 70's that could eventually get out too in addition to the 7 reworked on DKOT

'Get the Show On the Road'
'Babe, Don't Leave Me Alone'
'I Wanna Be Your Lover'
'Light in the Sky' (Not light up the sky), this one is totally different...more of a ballad.
'We Die Bold'
'Bad Women'
'Young and Wild'
'Eyes of the Night'
'Wild Fire'
'(Here's) Jus What You Wanted'

'No More Waiting' - this one wont come out as it's out as 'Feel So Good' - with Sammy.
'Voodoo Queen' - this wont come out....It's 'Unchained' totally diff lyrics but the same music

I will be seeing the Mighty Van Halen two weeks from yesterday. I might have to get tickets to Reading if my mind is sufficiently blown. I have already identified 2 of their tour T shirts that I must purchase.

They are doing this whole thing right. Over the weekend I watched the video of DLR explaining the brown M & M's isswue in their tour rider from the 80's. The show reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I was listening to a playlist of all of the classic Van Halen albums over the weekend and I have to say, A Different Kind of Truth shatters their old stuff when it comes to a heavy sound with wall to wall guitars. These old SOB's are taking no prisoners.

I was going to keep the rest of my comments to myself and avoid this thread for the VH groupies, but jesus christ that is bad. I finally caved and listened to Girl Gone Bad because it is one of my favorites and that was downright painful. Just atrocious. I"m not even sure how you could argue otherwise. Dave is just, wow, horrible. Like a broadway spoof. Yikes!

Here's the thing with Van Halen and especially Roth. They always straddled the line between being cool and being a joke. There was really a thin line there between the two. For a lot of people, Dave was too much. Obviously, many more dug his theatrics and over the top persona. He managed to make it work because some of his antics were very impressive. The martial arts moves, the screams, the look. He managed to make all that stuff work, largely due to his age and the fact that he could actually pull that stuff off. I don't know anyone that could pull that stuff off at his age now. I'm not expecting him to. But take all that stuff away and there isn't much left. It's evident in his performances now. He's still doing the same stuff, albeit not effectively, and there is nothing left to mask the fact that he really can't sing. Not that he was a great singer back in the day, but the whole package was pretty good. It just doesn't work anymore.

Well I guess this was inevitable. Van Halen "postponed" the rest of their tour dates. I heard the shows weren't all that great anyway.

Tour postponed

I hope it's not his health.

This is the only news that I've seen out there about it.

But Rolling Stone quoted sources close to Van Halen as saying the members are at each other's throats, making it a seemingly realistic prospect that the current incarnation featuring Diamond Dave (and Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, on bass in place of fired original bassist Michael Anthony) will not make it through the end of the year.

"[They] hate each other," an insider with knowledge of the tour told the magazine. "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."

from a billboard article

QUOTE
Billboard.com reported that "fatigue" was the reason the band postponed the dates, qupting a source as saying that the concerts were not canceled and that Van Halen is "doing great with ticket sales."

"They're not fighting," the source told the website. "They're just burnt and they want to take some time off. They got so excited and everything was going so well, they said, 'let's add more dates,' and I don't think they realized how tired they were."

Well I don't completely believe that it's all hugs and kisses over there, but it's quite possible they are burnt out.

Being that Eddie's been sick in the past, I'm sure the road is taking a toll on him and all of them.

I hope they do reschedule the dates.
