I wonder what the last Live song was that CT was proud of as he listened to the final mix? Over 10 years ago maybe? Lighthouse?

This has to be such an exciting time for CCP.

It would have to be pre-SFBM obviously, considering EK had the album in the can already before even consulting CCP. Even with that said CT has said there were a few songs on SFBM that when the guitars were up were manageable. I'd say OTD's list is as close as it gets, Purifier maybe could be added to the list, that's a maybe smile.gif

If anybody affiliated with the band is reading this thread - I implore them to do 2 things, which are not exactly congruent with one another, but I think they must be done.

1. I implore them to strike quickly. Act fast. Get out there with something. They need to move forward on whatever little momentum they have after the Chris Shinn announcement and the website launch. But let's be honest. Live announced Chris Shinn as their new lead singer. It was not reported in Billboard or Rolling Stone. Heck, the break-up wasn't reported either. Yesterday, Rolling Stone reported that Sinead O'Connor cancelled tour dates because she "wasn't feeling well". Yesterday, the Huffington Post reported on the front page that Chris Ethridge, bassist for the country act "Flying Burritto Brothers" died at the age of 65. I am serious. I am not making this sh*t up! But the Live break-up and new lead singer have never been mentioned by anyone! They announced Chris Shinn as the new lead singer and as of today, he had 696 followers on Twitter and he is following 1,960 people! And he supposedly had a career before being the new lead singer of Live. I can shout out my office window and reach more than 696 people. These are not commercially impressive statistics people. And before Nick gets all lathered up and excited, let me say that Ed isn't exactly the most relevant figure in the world either, or some news media outlet somewhere on the planet would have given a sh*t that he broke ties with Live.

So that leads me to my second point...

2. Live needs to do something big and novel and make social media explode to get this Live train back on the rails. They need to cash in every favor and rely on every contact they have to get TV, news, magazines, promoters, friends in the industry and every media outlet to metion what they are doing. Rolling Stone needs to report on it. Billboard needs to report on it. Huffington Post. AOL. They need to go on Howard Stern. They need to get in on some big festivals. They need to get Adam Levine to mention them. Apparently everything he touches turns to gold now. They need to go viral. They need to make a splash. What I suggest is that they open up to the public. Photos and videos of rehearsals. Ustream. Youtube. And it needs to be well orchestrated and planned out. They need to capitalize on the history of Live and its global fan base. Right now I don't see it happening. I love Adam and the Freaks4Live site looks great. But it has been static and the message board is already dead and has few members. That was not a big splash. Jordis Unga who went out of the Voice in the quarter finals just launched a better website and has more followers. Immediately following ther Dress Rehearsal Show and the Secret Show, the website should have been ready to launch the special audio visual content. The names of the people who will be having dinner with their moms and dads should have been announced. I think that they should have connected directly to this message board and leveraged the tremendous traffic, membership and archives of historical discussions here. Sure, this place is not closely controlled like corporate America, like the SOY board was. But they want it to be Freaks 4 Live - that means wild, freaky fans where anything goes - this is rock n' roll. And about the Freaks4Live monicker. I don't like it. I actually like "TheBandLive" as the proper home for Live. Freaks 4 Live is a name that doesn't refer to the band - it refers to the fans of the band. I have tried to hash tag the band and it seems wierd to reference the band as a noun in a Tweet and say @Freaks4Live when referring to the actual band Live. When people search for the band Live, they search for "the band Live" because the band has a name that is such a commonly used word in the field of music. Who would name their band Live anyway, if they knew that the way people would find you after the dawn of the internet is by searching the word "Live" on You Tube, Google, iTunes, Amazon, etc. You get every live concert album by every musician in the world. It is ridiculous. Assuming people will know to search for you on the internet with the word "freaks" in your search ain't gonna do it.

I am rooting for these guys and this band. I want this to happen. This needs to go big or go home. The music is great. It just needs to get noticed.

OK. now let me catch my breath.

P.S. Another thought. Ellen Degeneres is a big LIve fan. She is bigger now than when they performed Run Away on there a few years ago. Call Ellen's people and get booked on there playing an old song and a new song and let her conduct an interesting interview about what it was like to be huge in 1995 and what you are doing now and talk about what Ed did and what he is up to.

I'd say if they had a hand in God Don't Ever Change, then they'd have had a hand in Purifier since they're one in the same..

Seems like some good ideas. Why don't you reach out to them and offer to help if you have the time or the desire.

Fish those are all wonderful ideas, I'm just not sure how far and how big they want all this to be. I love as much as anyone here and honestly I think they are just wanting to go the slow cooker route as opposed to the microwave. The guys have so many irons in the proverbial fire right now I'm sure it had been difficult to manage all of this. On top of the fact that what music they are working on is for all entisive purposes bring self-produced. I don't want to portray CCP as putting music on the back burner, I just believe they'd rather take a slower pace to make sure things are done right.

I was just venting. I believe they have social media consultants and PR people and contacts in the industry from the last 25 years. They know radio and TV people and producers and other musicians in popular bands. I obviously don't have any useful contacts to leverage and I think all these ideas go without saying. The York daily paper is virtually the only mention of Live in the press in the last 3 years. Maybe they are trying and it isn't working. I would hope that they are press releasing stuff to important news outlets. A lot of these magazines like you to come to them with a story idea already written. Pergaps they could pitch a story about a rock band staying close to home in rural Pensylvania and investing and giving back to their community.

I am not a complainer and I am not a fan boy. I call them as I see them, whether it is positive or critical.

I'm cool with the "slow roast" roll out of new Live. I just hope they give us some shows, clips and updates along the way. If we're the only ones that know about the new lead singer, rehearsal, etc then there is no need or urgency to strike while the iron is hot.

Fish, I've been having similar (though not as articulate) thoughts.
I appreciate the slow cooker vs. microwave thought, but I feel like music is their first loves (it has to be, right? that's what they've said/shown) if the music gets noticed, while it will insure that they remain insanely busy, they are already insanely busy.

I would love to see Live on Ellen and Howard Stern and Letterman (he and Howard are buds, why not??) and watch them really blow up for a few minutes. Shit it would be amazing to see a real rock band on SNL.

Ultimately, they will of course, do what's best for them. But I, as a drooling fan, would love it if they ran this as fast and furious as they can and do those things Fish put out there. I think it'd be amazing to say to people "I'm going to a Live concert" and have them reply "no shit, that's cool, I wish I could go" instead of "are they still a band?" or just "who?"

ultimately, as long as the music rocks, and it will, I'll be happy.

Exactly my thoughts when I made that thread the other day about better names for the band than live. I swear they would be bigger if not for that name. No one knows this band. I was playing king's cup the other day and I put out the category "songs by the band live" and not one person knew any besides my wife who could probably name 2.

My main rant though is on that website name.... I hate the freaks moniker. Thebandlive is much better for all the reasons you listed.

I do have something productive to throw in though... if you google "live the band" f4L pops up first. That's at least one good thing.

I just tried it. They must have pretty good search engine optimization. Although it is pretty cool that my silly little site is listed third on the first page of search results, and I haven't even gotten anything started on there yet. [Edit: Actually my site has three seperate appearances on the first page of Google search results for "The Band Live" so maybe I have more exposure than the band's official website and I only have 2 blog entires and some photo galleries on there.]

Does anyone else here do what I do when you ask someone else about whether they have heard of Live or you tell them your favorite band is Live or that you are going to a Live concert? I always end up saying "You know, the band Live. They were big in the 90's. They had the song Lightening Crashes and I Alone."

If you just say "I am going to see Live this week", or "My favorite band is Live", or "Do you ever listen to Live" it feels like the person doesn;t know what I am talking about, unless I further explain it as "the band Live".
